What a sick fuk if true.
Pete Rose vehemently denies statutory rape allegations involving 12-14 year-old girls
The man who investigated Pete Rose and authored the 1989 report that banned the hit king from baseball for life dropped another bombshell on Rose last month, this one a far more serious allegation than betting on baseball.
Attorney John Dowd, who wrote the Dowd Report and who has been one of Rose's harshest critics since he was banned by then baseball commissioner Bart Giamatti in 1989, claimed on a WCHE podcast last month that Rose associate Michael Bertolini told Dowd he "ran young girls for (Rose) down in spring training." Dowd does not indicate a time frame of the alleged activity during the interview.
"I've been asked that question whether (Rose) had any moral bearings at all and the answer is no," Dowd said in the podcast. "Michael Bertolini told us that he not only ran bets, but he ran young girls for (Rose) down in spring training. Ages 12-14. Isn't that lovely? So that's statutory rape every time you do that. So he's just not the kind of person
An NJ.com report posted the WCHE podcast Thursday and Rose is quoted in the article saying the Dowd claims were "shocking."
"Oh, my God!" Rose told NJ.com. "Where was my family all of this time in spring training? I never went to spring training without my family except for first year when I was a rookie. It's shocking. What level are they going to reach to next? What's Dowd going to talk about next? Something from 50 years ago when I was 24 years old? I don't know why anybody would believe that. It's unbelievable. That the best one so far."
