Is it bad to eat catfish out of a small pond?

    Or is it okay?

i would think its gotta be as healthy as that beef they serve at Taco Bell right?

It depends on the depth of the pond, and the size of the catfish.

Earlier today I ate one and I'm fine.

Just a few minor stomach ailments, but nothing major.

You have to look at where the pond is getting its water. Lot of chemicals in fresh water lakes and streams

depends on the pond, but usually if it's not a "clean" pond with a lot of fresh water entering into it, and is somewhat stagnant, and overpopulated with catfish, the fish are going to taste "dirty," as i you can damn near taste "dirt" in their filets......

alot of it depends on the pond, ie, how small is it, what is its water source, the population level of fish in it......

alot of catfish served up at casino's in their f'd up buffets are farm raised in overpopulated ponds, and you can taste the "dirt" in those bastards.....

but if the pond is larger than an acre, doesn't have a ton of fish in it, and has fresh water entering into it from a stream or other source, such that it doesn't have a bunch of stale, non-moving water in it... they should be ok to eat........

have eaten some cats out of s. tex stock tanks, pretty damn dirty tasting....
