    have to go back to Dirk in 98' to find a top 10 Euro all-star. Can usually steal a decent euro late 1st rd or early 2nd. Would never waste a lotto pick on a euro, or any white guy for that matter

    Porzingis and Hezonja are among the better European prospects we have seen in a long time.

    Hezonja can shoot 3s at a shockingly high percentage. And this is from 22'9, not the 20 foot NCAA line.

    Since 2008 There have only been like 3 European lottery picks. There will likely be two this year and for good reason. Both these guys can ball.

    Do not forget that the Euroleague guys play against fully grown, often ex-NBA guys. It is a higher level of play than many give it credit for.

    They don't want the guy who is currently the best player though, they want the guy with the highest upside (as ridiculous as that seems).

    I'm not sure where I stand as far as actually agreeing that these guys should be drafted this high, I just think a number of GMs are looking to take guys who might be game changers for a team.

    A ton of lottery picks end up at pretty useless players anyways. Porzingis could be a floor spacing 4 in a couple years who can still get to the rim and score in the post. Hezonja could be a Klay thompson type.

    Not saying either of them will pan out, but they definitely could.

    sometimes it isn't just about drafting for talent

    due to $, salary cap, and timing sometimes it pays to draft a Euro guy in a situation where you can basically draft and follow and not pay the guy right away.

    for instance the Bulls traded for Nicola Mirotic on draft night back in 2011, they didn't have to actually pay the dude until 3 years later after watching him develop overseas

    The year before that, the only Euro drafted in the first round, Evan Fournier, was a big contributor this year for the Magic before he got hurt.

    The 2012 draft is pretty fascinating. Sick top ten. Second round? All bums except for Draymond Green. Some nice scouting going on in the NBA.
