New details come out on Hamilton to Texas...

Rangers are only responsible for 7 million dollars over the next 3 years. Angels are paying the rest of the $83 million he is owed.

    Wow!!

If Hamilton is even 1/2 the player he was when he left here, this is the steal of a fukkin lifetime.

    Welcome home, Hambone.

So this means the Rangers will lose 95 games instead of 100 now?

Is it guaranteed money or something? Why didn't the Angels just cut him and pay him nothing?

Uhh, that's not new details. It was known & obvious that in order for the Angels to rid themselves of this loser that they would have to pick UP the bulk of the tab. And Hamilton is not even close to half the player he was when he left, he's more like 1/10th & that's being generous.
This is no steal for the Rangers, this is a headache waiting to happen. Too bad Washington is no longer managing, they could have done a few lines together in the clubhouse during the 7th inning stretch.....just like old times!

i guess it can be a feel good story.

the bigger problem is the rangers destroyed their financial situation when they gave 130 million each to choo and andrus

now both players are below replacement level mlb players.

i would like to see profar earn a starting job, hes supposed to be a stud

You are right about the NFL. The Vikings could just cut AP if they wanted to - now that they have paid the guaranteed money. What a difference in the upper echelon contracts - amount of guarantees. It is amazing how much debt the Angels took on.

FRIDAY 7:15pm: The talks are still “complex” and “volatile” and remain incomplete, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports (Twitterlinks). If the deal is completed, the Rangers will take on less than $15MM and will not send any players to their division rivals.Multiple reports indicate that the lack of state income tax in Texas is playing a role, with Bob Nightengale of USA Today tweeting that Hamilton will cede some pay to make the deal work. Hamilton’s gains through tax avoidance would, presumably, even things out (to some extent, at least) on his end.
If the proposed transaction is indeed one in which the Rangers would assume some of the contract without sending anything in return, and in which Hamilton would give up some guaranteed money, it is not hard to see the complexities. Both the league and union would surely want to take a close look at a deal of that nature.

Josh not going to end up getting the help he really needs because of (what else???!) the money

traveling to 4 or 5 new cities every month all summer is not exactly a healthy environment

for a guy that clearly has trouble maintaining periods of sobriety

I remember reading the story about how he had a babysitter and was only allowed $20 cash on him at any given time. Guy is an addict and he has destroyed lives...sad. From a baseball stand point...he sucks dick. Maybe he can do that for coke in DFW.
