Are spurs trying to win the division title?

Playing very well at full speed at the end of the season. Have won 14 of 17 and gave away the cavs game a few weeks ago.

I was about to say they are too far back to win division, but then I checked at they are quietly only two games back. Regardless if they win the division or not though, they are peaking at the perfect time as usual.

    i doubt it.

seeding and home court advantage means nothing in NBA.

you gotta beat the best to be the best anyway and the Spurs are a very confident team.

They still play the rockets twice so it will be interesting to see if anybody rests from either team down the last stetch as health is important to both teams. I would say the grizz still have the inside track though.

It does seem like they should be out of the division race, but silently they could very well win out and probably win it. I'll have to check the tiebreakers, all the good teams have kicked the dog shit out of Memphis of late. The Griz may be shit out of luck for the division

Spurs have already split with Grizzlies, and are 1 and 1 against Houston with a back to back against each other to play next week. Spurs will be gunning for the Rockets in both games if they are in striking distance and D12 keeps playing like he needs B12

Division title not only means NOTHING in the NBA it means even less to Greg Poppovich. THis is the time o fyear the Spurs always turn i on. They are getting into playoff form intentionally plain and simple.

I totally agree. Especially with the injuries to Leonard with his hand in the beginning of the season.

If nothing else they don't want to have to play 3 straight road series to get to the finals. I wouldn't put the division title out of reach or as a goal for this team with two games against the Rockets left

For the record, they can't finish third in the division and get the four seed, even if they do finish with the fourth best record in the conference. BUT they would still have home court advantage in the first round if, as a five-seed, they have a better record than the four seed, so in that sense, four or five doesn't matter.

Heck, even RIGHT NOW, the Spurs are a six-seed and have a better record than fourth seeded Portland.

Spurs are playing to win every game. Coaches don't play to loose else they shouldn't show up for work on game day.

Have you met Pop? He has rested players while fighting for a one-seed in the past.

Yeah I hear you, Spurs have won with their backups several times. Still, willing to rest players while fighting for seeding makes it seem like Pops doesn't care where Spurs finish.

Pops hasn't been resting players of late. He has a plan to finish strong and perhaps steal the division. He went all out to destroy the Heat and Magic on back to back nights. Manu might not play anymore in the regular season, but everyone else seems to be all hands on deck Winning the division guaranteed the 2 seed.

Splitter has been ruled out until after Friday tops, I doubt Parker goes tonight after leaving last nights game with tightness. It's pretty amazing Duncan hasn't rested once since the all star break on back to backs, but I have a sneaky feeling that he might have already told Pop this is it for him so he's going all out. I believe he has logged more minutes this year than the past few already taking into account how many times he has played 40+ with the double/triple ot games.

If the Spurs double digit lead holds up. Houston, Memphis, and the Spurs will all have 53 wins at the end of the night. Amazing.

That is unreal. Every year I'm becoming a bigger fan of seeding these teams 1-16 instead of 8 and 8. Two 50+ win teams meeting in the first round can really put a rift in a successful regular season. Where is the reward in that?

Memphis has a big road game against the Clippers after a trip to Utah. That could be the deciding game to decide the division. Spurs probably won't lose again until the last game of the season.

Could be 5 playoff teams and 4 50-win teams in the same division. Shit is unreal.

I have a bet on the Spurs not to win the division. I nearly broke my computer when the Spurs blew that game to the Cavs. Unreal it could end up helping me.

What am I missing here? Spurs NOT to win the division? Didn't you want them to lose that game?

I had Spurs+1.5 in that game. It didn't look like it would matter in the Southwest Division race at that stage. Reread my post "it could end up helping me".
