    Never take a Road team on Friday night in the NBA.

    I love my Cavs, they've been my team since before they had a name, but you never take a Road team on Friday night in the NBA. I ain't saying to take the Home team on Friday night, but I am saying don't take an NBA Road team on Friday night.

    One spring morning when I was 15, I picked up the Plain Dealer and saw a contest form on the front page of the sports section, I filled it out and a mailed it in, entering the contest to name the NBA franchise that would be playing in Cleveland that fall. We lived on Cannon Ave in Lakewood and I didn't go far for inspiration as my entry was the Cleveland Cannons - I still think it's a better name than 'Cavaliers', nonetheless they've been my team since before they had a name.

    Tonight I'm on the Hawks +1.5. I sure hope the Cavs win by 1.

    Road teams were 8-6 ATS last Friday. As far back as I bothered to look. So I wouldn't use an absolute like "never".

    Also don't take a home team on Friday if they lost to a home team on Thursday the day after they won on the road on Wednesday.

    Away teams on Friday this season are 91-91-8 ATS and 85-105 SU according to SportsDataBase.
    2324-2239-103 ATS and 1870-2796 SU since 1995.
