hendrick front row for the Daytona 500

utter bullshit sittin' on pit road for the first 4 mins of "group qualifying," but nice results for the 24 and 48.....

The 4 hendrick cars and 4 Joe Gibbs cars filled the top 7 positions + 10th.

Might be a favorites 500 this year.

NASCAR is just throwing things at a wall and hoping something sticks since their ratings drop through last year and now losing their main sponsor. You used to never see empty seats at NASCAR races, and the Indy race last season was a wake up call to them that all is not well with ticket sales because many races showed tons of empty seats. I think when the main drivers and owners start to bitch you might not see this type of qualifying again when someone misses the race that shouldn't have

Time for a fist fight in the pits to boost ratings. Worked before.

Jr and Hamlin failed inspection after qualifying today so the plot thickens

You think they are going to suspend them or just fine them?

trevor bayne at 60-1 is a good buy, assuming he's still in the f'n 21...... haven't followed enough preseason silly season to know if he's still running the same equipment that's had him so strong the last couple of 500's

childress drivers at 40-1 plus have value, also....... Granddaddy dumping inordinate amount of resources into plate races, just as he did with Dale

Bayne is in #6 for Roush and should be more than 100/1 by race day.

Ryan Blaney in #21 and should be 150/1

Both among the long shot chances I think. Stenhouse in another Ford as well.

I knew there was some shit where Bayne might not be in the 21 any longer..... more the machine than the driver; any fords running good in practices? any decent darkhorses?

as for favs, gotta say its the 48

Of the higher priced guys I'll be backing Stenhouse and probably #21 as well out of Fords. Biffle the other Ford guy with some chance.

McMurray, Truex Jr and Ragan are the 'smart money' longshots.

The trouble I have with backing faves in this pack racing format is we won't know if Jimmie or Junior or Gordon or Kahne will end up the lead car for Hendrick on the final lap. Any of the four could be there. Same with the 4 Joe Gibbs cars Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Kenseth and Edwards.

haven't caught any practices and too busy to read up on speeds, without seeing crap, including last sat nite's unlimited, gotta beleve penske's boys will be in it too, or are they off this year?

key is to be second or third with help with one to go.... could be anyone, and certainly someone who's avoided trouble up to that point....

keneth, hamlin, johnson and maybe kes.... no reason junior couldn't keep his nose clean and repeat.... biff def darkhorse as well

edwards usually makes a stupid move to start a big one; hard to go with him, unless he avoids the trouble he creates

Yeah, always some chance. But Logano/Keselowski have pretty darn awful records around Daytona.

12 starts each, for 2 top 5s each. And both average worse than 20th.

Think Edwards is going to thrive on the Gibbs team. Same way Kenseth did when he went over.

Like him a lot this year

Two heady drivers should make for a good tag team at Daytona

typical edwards on restrictor plate tracks:

can't find the other vid of him causing a wreck at the front of the field, i think at talladega, with a similar bone head move......
