Is baseball the hardest sport to predict the last place teams?

Really for this year because 1 team you could pencil in the last few years was Houston.

    I'd go:

    Minnesota
    Philadelphia
    Tampa Bay

    we'll revisit in September

Yea I think Rays & Braves have the pitching to stay competitive. Braves still have a few hitters too.

Arizona is a bottom 3 team
    The starters are horrific

    Trevor Cahill
    Rubby de la Rosa
    Jeremy Helickson
    Josh Collmenter

    (that's the core people)

Twins: Besides Phil Hughes, they have nothing, nothing !

You can make a case for three teams for the third spot, I'll go Philly

biggest thing people over look is how under rated Jose Quintana is

the top 3 in the white sox rotation can be lights out, which includes 2 of the top 5 lefties in the AL

rockies wont be as bad if they dont trade tulo and cargo plus if they stay healthy the whole year which never happens. If both those things happen the rockies should be .500

    Rangers suck
Astros made some nice additions such as LF Evan Gattis and SS Jed Lowrie to go along with 3 already potent bats in the line-up Altuve, Carter, and Springer.

Pitching is a bit of a question mark though.

Rockies have an outstanding line-up and suffered a ton of injuries last year that was a big reason for the 2nd half collapse. Again though they seem to have no interest in having good starting pitchers or bullpen pitchers.

Rangers signed ace pitcher Giovanni Gallardo to go along with 2 solid arms in Darvish and the Dutch oven.

IMO 2 sleeper teams that could make a run at their respective divisions that nobody is expecting much out of is the Rays and the Reds. Both teams should have above average starting pitching and very quality arms in the bullpen.

    Rays pitching rotation is solid
    1. Cobb
    2. Archer
    3. Ordorrizi
    4. Moore
    5. Smyly

Huge addition in signing DH/ C John Jaso
Top of that line-up going to look like
    1. Jennings CF
    2. Jaso DH
    3. Longoria 3B
    4. Loney 1B
    5. Souza Jr RF
    6. De Jesus LF
    7. Cabbrera SS
    8. Rivera C
    9. Forsythe 2B

that line-up is better than last years. Bengie Molina was an automatic out. And he clogged the base paths.

with the Reds.... Losing Latos was big but they still have the closer in the game and 4 solid pitchers
    1.Cueto
    2. Cingranni
    3. Bailey
    4. Leake

line-up was hurt most of last year but if they stay healthy look out. They have a good coach.

They might. I think the AL west will be a 2 team race between the Angels and Mariners.

The most overrated team in baseball IMO is the Oakland A's. I am not a fan of the moves they made this offseason.

I don't think Houston or the Rangers finish in the bottom 3 if they stay healthy. Houston is making the right moves and the Rangers were killed with injuries last year.

I'm willing to go out on a limb and wager up to 1000 points (even money), that neither end the bottom 3. Your wager can be for less than 1000, but I will cap my wagered amount at 1000.

    Big Bear's bottom 3

    1. Twins
    2. White Sox
    3. D-Backs

surprise team that may compete for worst record in MLB= Oakland A's

Billy Beane is a idiot keeping Sam Fuld and letting go of John Jaso, Jed Lowrie, Yoenis Cespedes, and Brandon Moss. Arguably the 4 best players on the team.

Not to mention being unable to re-sign Lester and Samardijia

Wouldnt surprise me if Chris Sale ends up getting Tommy John Surgery with those awful mechanics.

if that happens they will be in free fall mode.

Not indiviually, as a unit the unit is horrific, who's a stopper there?, by stopper I mean is there a guy in the rotation that can stop a 3 game losing streak that you can rely on.

Dodgers have three, Nationals have three, maybe four.

Now they might not be bottom three, but look for the Orioles to have a massive fall off this season.
Pitching is mediocre, at best, they lost defense in Markakis, and lost power in Cruz.
Not a bottom 3 teams, but O's will struggle to win 85 games.

    no stopper on the D-Backs.

I hated to see them part ways with Gregorious, Parra and Prado.

Last time i was out in Vegas... D-Backs were 150 to 1 to win world series tied for worst odds with Twins a few others i believe... BTW wtf was Tori Hunter thinking to go back to the Twins at this point in his career?

i guess he figures he will get traded to a contender before the deadline...

I agree with you on Orioles.

Easily the worst team in the AL East.

Hardly packing any punch in that line-up and pitching is mediocre.

i am very curious about the Yankees to see if Pineda can stay healthy and i wonder what type of year A-Rod will have... they could be a potential contender especially if Carlos Beltran has anything left in the tank and ofcourse they will need to stay healthy...
