They can play defense and run the ball. Teams that can do that typically fare well.

i though Mack would be a big loss for them. These second string lineman aren't as bad as you'd think.

Don't forget this Browns lost in Week 7:

Hoyer to the Browns and Palmer to the Cardinals are the best veteran QB trades for this season.

Hoyer really reminds me of Alex Smith, less of a runner but more of a leader.

Browns are for real because we have a coach that is for real. Love Pettine's attitude. He doesn't give a fukk about the losing culture here in Cleveland. He doesn't care about the past. He focuses on the future, and he focuses on what he can control, which is preparing, working hard, and being confident in everything he does. It trickles to Hoyer and on through the rest of the team... I absolutely love how you can't tell if the Browns are winning or losing by the look on Pettine's face on the sidelines. Guy oozes confidence, and truly expects to win. Him and Bruce Ariens the early favs for COY

Browns are as good as Cincy, if not better because of the QB. That being said, they are underdogs at home to 10 others teams. My math shows they are mediocre. Good luck!

and Pittsburgh lost to Tampa at home... doesn't mean shit. you are what you are, and the Browns are 6-3. We beat 3 teams that might be int he playoffs (Saints, Bengals, Steelers). Browns could easily be 8-1 right now (lost to Steelers and Ravens on FGs at the buzzer), only game we had no busniess winning was against Jacksonville.

I remember 5 or 6 years ago the Browns dismantled New England and New Orleans in back to back weeks, then lost 8 in a row to end the year. This is pro football not high school

At the end of the day they are still the browns. Its gonna take them a few years. To crown them only halfway through the season is ridiculous

No one has crowned them, thread says they are for real, and they are... not sure what your trying to say

and thats where you are wrong, they are not "still the Browns"... its different this year, and Browns fans have known it before beating Cincy. The reason we are not "still the Browns" is because of Mike Pettine and Brian Hoyer. Old Browns dont beat the Saints in week 2. Old Browns dont beat the Steelers 31-10. Old Browns dont come back from 20+ down at the half at Tennessee. Old Browns don't win in Cincy on national TV in a put up or shut up game. Old Brwons dont lead the NFL in picks. Old Browns aren't 3rd in the league in turnover differential. Old Browns don't average less than 1 turnover per game. Old Browns aren't 6-3 despite losing a pro bowl center for the year (Alex Mack), a pro bowl WR to suspension (Josh Gordon), and getting nothing from a pro bowl TE (Jordan Cameron).

If they tank the rest of the way and dont make the playoffs will you still consider them to be "for real"?

Well with the way you're talking might as well crown them the AFC North.
