Sunday NFL Recap per FootballGuys (Week 6)

NYG - WR Victor Cruz tears patella tendon
Source: NBC Sports - Michele Tafoya
Updating a previous report, New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (knee) was taken off on a cart after suffering a torn patellar tendon in his right knee. As he was carted off, he was sobbing on the way back to the locker room.

There will be more information Monday but the initial indications are that Cruz could be lost for the season.

CIN - RB Giovani Bernard has big stat line
    Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson
Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard carried 18 times for 137 yards in Week 6 against the Carolina Panthers, including a career-long 89-yard rushing touchdown. He also chipped in with four receptions for 20 yards.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Bernard left the game briefly with a shoulder injury, but returned in overtime. He is a solid RB in this offense despite a lot of carries that go for short gains or less.

CIN - WR A.J. Green will not need surgery
    Source: ESPN - Bob Holtzman
Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (toe) is expected to miss a second consecutive game in Week 7, but he is not expected to require surgery. Green is scheduled to see a doctor Friday, Oct. 17.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Mohamed Sanu should be set up for another steady helping of targets against the Colts next week.

CLE - Terrance West was healthy scratch
Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich
Cleveland Browns RB Terrance West was a healthy scratch for Week 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, head coach Mike Pettine said Sunday, Oct. 12. The absence was not related to any kind of infraction, and Pettine said West needs to improve, and it comes down to practice.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
West is quickly falling on dynasty draft rankings. The Browns running game is effective so we should be ready to pick West back up if he gets back in the rotation, but for now that seems far away - although Isaiah Crowell's ball security issues are something to watch.

ATL - Another long TD for RB Antone Smith
Source: NFL Red Zone - Scott Hanson
Atlanta Falcons RB Antone Smith hauled in a 41-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter of the Week 6 game against the Chicago Bears.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Smith now has five long scores in six games after having two on eight touches last year. It's time to anoint him at least a weekly flex play, even though he has been a legit RB2 if you kept in your lineup all this time. Next week he goes to Baltimore in a tougher matchup.

MIA - WR Brian Hartline blanked in loss
    Source: ESPN
Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline had zero catches in the Week 6 game against the Green Bay Packers, and he was targeted just two times.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Jarvis Landry appears to be ahead of Hartline in the target pecking order at this point. There's no reason to hold onto Hartline with a low weekly ceiling if it also comes with a low weekly floor.

BUF - TE Scott Chandler hits century mark
Source: The Buffalo News - Tim Graham
Buffalo Bills TE Scott Chandler had six receptions for a team-high 105 yards in the Week 6 game against the New England Patriots. Chandler is the first Bills tight end with over 100 yards since Pete Metzelaars in 1992.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Chandler is back in play as a TE streamer or bye/injury/emergency option with Kyle Orton at QB.

NE - RB Stevan Ridley might have torn ACL
Source: NFL Network - Albert Breer
Updating a previous report, New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley (knee) will have an MRI Monday, Oct. 13, for the knee injury he suffered in Week 6 against the Buffalo Bills. The fear is that he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
If he is healthy enough, the Patriots could call Benjarvus Green-Ellis. Shane Vereen could be a beneficiary of a long Ridley absence, but the team did not use him more after Ridley left the game. With a short week to prepare for the Jets on Thursday, they may not have time to drastically alter the gameplan. Right now the Patriots backfield doesn't look too promising for fantasy.

NE - TE Rob Gronkowski fights through pain
Source: The Boston Globe - Ben Volin
New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (forearm) fought through in a very physical game in Week 6 against the Buffalo Bills. He was injured in the third quarter, and assisted to the sidelines by trainers, but was able to return. He also had his forearm brace replaced during the game. He finished with seven receptions for 94 yards, and also had a touchdown negated by penalty.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Gronkowski's number of snaps each week is trending in the right direction, and he survived a play and reaction that made owners hold their collective breath today. Expect a big game Thursday night against the Jets defense that allowed two scores to Julius Thomas today.

DET - PK Matt Prater struggles in debut
Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett
Detroit Lions PK Matt Prater missed two field goal attempts in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings in his team debut. One miss was wide right from 50 yards, and the other from 44 yards was off the left upright. He was able to convert a 52-yard field goal in the first half, and he added two extra points. 'We have all the confidence in the world on him,' head coach Jim Caldwell said Sunday, Oct. 12.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Lions kicking woes didn't cost them a game this week, but they still can't feel like they've solved the problem with Prater.

DET - RB Reggie Bush vows to play in Week 7
Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett
Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) said Sunday, Oct. 12, that he is '100 percent' to play in Week 7 against the New Orleans Saints.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Bush wouldn't miss the game against the team that drafted and later traded him to Miami. Theo Riddick looked like he might be taking part of Bush's role with a great game today, but he re-injured his hamstring. Eric Decker scored in a "revenge game" today, so there's some credence to the theory that would make a risky start of Bush coming off an injury worth it next week.

CLE - Alex Mack has broken ankle
    Source: NFL.com - Ian Rapoport
Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns C Alex Mack (ankle) suffered a broken ankle in the Week 6 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to a source, and the team fears he is out for the season.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Browns showed the AFC North that they are in the mix with a thrashing of the Pittsburgh Steelers in Cleveland, but lost one of their stalwarts. The running game has been great, but might lose a little edge without Mack.

DET - RB Theo Riddick injured
    Source: DetroitLions.com - Tim Twentyman
Detroit Lions RB Theo Riddick (hamstring) left the game early in Week 6 because of a hamstring injury and is considered doubtful to return.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Uh oh. Riddick was a having a mini breakout early in this one, but he missed time with a hamstring issue last week, so this injury could be worse than that one and cost him multiple weeks. George Winn's value will persist in deep leagues, but Joique Bell has looked good today.

NE - ILB Jerod Mayo carted off
Source: Boston Herald - Jeff Howe
New England Patriots LB Jerod Mayo (undisclosed) is being carted off the field after suffering an undisclosed injury during the team's Week 6 game.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Mayo's injury seemed serious and he slammed his helmet down after getting hurt. The epidemic of injuries to top linebackers has been never-ending since Sean Lee went down in the offseason, creating a real shortage of reliable options in IDP leagues this year.

He SHOULD be OK, remember home games are in dome. Guy was the best kicker in football last year, maybe even last several years.

I"m hoping West stays inactive for one more week. Byes are going to be hurting me next week and I might have to count on Crowell.
