If he takes Kershaw out early and the bullpen blows the lead, which is very possible because LAD bullpen is garbage, then Mattingly fired for sure
If he leaves Kershaw in there and he proceeds to blow the lead, then Kershaw takes the heat
Mattingly doesnt care about winning, he wants to collect a paycheck and let someone else take the heat

Starting pitching will only get you so far in the playoffs. Timely hitting, above average defense, a deep bench, a good bullpen, and a manager who knows how to use it all can overcome even the best of starters. The Dodgers didn't have enough clutch plays, end of story.
