    Thx for the advice guys.

There will be a cost of living raise. Otherwise it wouldn't be affordable for us.

In lieu of this thread, I'm strongly leaning towards Seattle. Not sure how I would react to getting 6 chips with my queso. Here in in Oklahoma and down in Texas , we take out Tex-Mex very seriously.

I'll know for sure where by Sept 5th.

I won't miss the tornadoes. Nor the sub zero winters. Or 60+ straight days of 100 degree weather.

But there will be a lot here I do miss. Oklahoma is a great place that is only getting better. Highly recommended for anyone needing a nice place to live on a budget. Just get a storm cellar

My in-laws live in Seattle and we have a new nephew and my wife has a god daughter in Seattle, so needless to say, Seattle is chalk right now. Interestingly, this job hunt started some months ago and we ultimately narrowed it down to only SF and found an ideal position. Well, an almost identical job came open in Seattle and I told her about it and she instantly lit up. I knew then Seattle was the favorite. But we both LOVE SF as well and the $$$ is better, even after factoring in cost of living.

VERY expensive. Both cities. And we're forced to live downtown in both. On one hand, I dread it. I'm used to an acreage and affordable mortgage. Both will be sacrificed. On the other hand, deep down,I've always wanted to live in a big city where I can walk/bike everywhere. We can go down to one car (4WD Z71 ) and use public transportation. For some reason, that appeals to me as well. Honestly, the biggest sacrifice I may make moving to CA is giving up my guns. I've heard the gun laws there are insane and I'm a bit of a gun nut.

Also, if we do choose Seattle, I'll need some new friends. If you don't mind PM'ing me the number of the take titted emotional wreck, I'd like to get to know her once or twice

You may be right JJ. If we choose to rent, we're gonna keep our property here and I guess we can always run back to OKC with our tails tucked if it's too much. If we decide to buy, we have to sell here and then shit gets more real. No more "homebase" to return to.

I know San Francisco is expensive for obvious reason...

But i never would have guessed Seattle was expensive???

What makes Seattle expensive? Its not like they have great weather or pretty beaches like California. And it rains a lot there right? Somebody please explain Why Seattle is an expensive place to live???

enlighten me Corbin. So they have good seafood and they are a decent sports town...

but on the other hand St. Louis Missouri is a good sports town and has decent BBQ and i have a friend in
St. Louis who always brags about how cheap St. Louis is.

Anyway fellas I wasnt even going to post today but i am very curious about Seattle after reading this thread and I am very curious as to why its even remotely as expensive as San Francisco?

seattle one of the most affluent, well-educated cities in the country and have many big tech businesses in and around it.

Honestly, Seattle downtown is a penetrating hole. Homeless bums everywhere, there is a lot of aggressive panhandling. It stinks of bum urine. They just elected a socialist city council member, drugs every fking where. There is a lot of drug violence. If you choose Seattle, you don't want to live downtown, unless you happen to be a meth dealer.

thanks for for the input. Right now I'm trying to soak up all the information I can, good and bad.

If we go with Seattle, we're looking at living in the following areas: Queen Anne, Southlake Union, Ravenna and Woodberg(?) or something like that.
are those areas considered downtown and does your statement apply to all of those areas? Thanks

Queen Anne and Southlake Union are fairly close to downtown and have some of the same problems. The farther you get away from downtown the better. It will cost more, but you sure as hell don't want to live in downtown proper. If you can afford to live a good distant away from downtown, there are a lot of really nice areas although you will still have a small percentage of the same BS from downtown. I guess there is some of that everywhere nowadays though. Downtown is really beautiful at Christmas time, there is a lot going on, the lights are really nice, a lot of nice shopping, thousands and thousands of people out every night unless its gets real cold which is rare. Westlake park and just about every park downtown is nothing but a homeless encampment. The downtown library is disgusting as its nothing but a homeless/drug transaction hangout. There actually were some pretty regular murders and shootings going on in downtown Seattle for a while. The homeless people live downtown, they sleep everywhere, piss all over the place and if you look like you might have a dollar in your packet they are all over you like the Seahawks defense on the Broncos last February. Sometimes You can actually taste piss in the air when you are downtown. Its just fking disgusting. My advice would be to go to SF or if you pick Seattle, live as far away from downtown as you can possibly afford.

I have him ranked just below Seaweed and just above Big Bear on my SBR Big Board of posters.

This guy obviously has pull around here since this shitty thread managed to avoid being Salooned hours ago. The choice is simple, you belong in Seattle. The reason: Being a Thunder fan you should see where your underachieving team got their start.

Good luck to you and your beautiful wife. My PM is always available for nudes (of you, not your wife)

Thx for the kind words, Giant.

Indeed, this is a shitty thread. But a useful one for a few reasons.

First, I'm gathering great intel about a city I'm potentially moving to. This information is priceless. I do not want my new KD's getting pissed on by some bum in downtown Seattle.

Second , it's a power play. What's that you ask? It's exactly as you described, creating a terrible thread in PT, non-sports related just to show that it won't get moved.

    Most power posters have one,

Opie can get anyone banned for any reason. I was banned 3 days last year after I supported the boycott against Chick-Fil-A. I was also banned for a week after placing a bet on OU for bedlam.

Stealthy posted a picture of his rooster last year. It was stickied for a month. Easy access for Shari I assumed. It was a nice rooster. I was likely responsible for half the thread views, Shari the other half .

Chi-Archie creates a few dozen ghosts a month and openly admits they're his just to piss off the peanut gallery. Pays to be a winner.

Giant I've yet to figure out yours although I'm sure you have one. I know you're part of the Entitled7. Lou told me before he got aids and quit.

So there it is. If you ever need anything posted in PT just let me know
