How many years did the Cubs have proir and wood healthy?

And did they make the playoffs?

I cant do the math with these stats but it seems like they should have won 90 games that year

it may have only been one year that both were actually healthy for all or most of the season. it was the bartman year, 2003 i think

lost to the marlins in the nlcs

i still remember coming home from school and watching the last few innings of the game where wood fanned 20. he struck out like 5 of the last 6 guys he faced or something like that. maybe 3 of the last 4. that was like 15 years ago, it's a little fuzzy. but either way that is unreal.

Matt Clement was another solid young arm for that rotation

Aram came in July with Lofton in a salary and gave them a big boost

That team was good but injuries and horrible managing cost them a chance to win it all. Blame Dusty Baker.

2003 Cubs, what could have been.

That was actually a really good team with three good starting pitchers. Zambrano was a good pitcher as well and you had a roided up Sosa in the middle of the lineup.

I miss the steroid era. So much more exciting than watching dudes strikeout 200 times a year.

    they actually weren't that great

they were 50-51 on july 23rd

they went 38 and 23 the rest of the way. But an 88-74 team was not some jaugarnaut

they made some nice trades at the end of the year and got hot.

but the playoff series loss was crushing because of the Bartman game and blowing their series lead....

NOT because they were some prohibitive faves

still a pretty decent size upset in that series. chokers:

Las Vegas money is heavily on the Cubs in the National League Championship Series, says Keith Glantz, who establishes betting lines and, along with Russell Culver, offers the odds that most newspapers publish. The lines flow as the money does: A $100 series bet on the Marlins would yield about $180. Cubs backers must put up about $220 to win $100.

the Braves and Giants were the real chokers for the NL that year though is my point. Along with the Astros who were leading the Cubs in the central with a much better team until the end.

that 2003 cubs team was a surprise, it wasn't their "time" to compete yet really. They came out of no where

My fave team after '97 O's.

They weren't dominant but you could feel if they slipped into the playoffs they could do some damage with that 1-2 punch + a young (and good) zambrano.

Obviously the bartman incident was devastating but they had numerous chances to come back and win that series. I believe that happened in the 8th of game 6.

Exactly. They still had game 7 at home and Wood starting.

2008 was just pure disappointment as the Cubs were definitely the best team during the regular season.

2003 was more like shock and awe.
