The US (IMO) doesn't pay enough for the risk. Belgium in regulation is the best bet on that game. If I could get the US plus 1 at even money I would be all over it.

The Swiss are a very solid team. Went 7-0-3 in qualifying, giving up only 6 goals in 10 games. They also beat Brazil 1-0 in a friendly. The only real bad game was the France game where they lost 5-2, but the second half was a 2-2 draw.

Besides Messi Argentina has not impressed at all and I'm still confused as to why everyone is riding them in this tournament.

Are they the better team than Switzerland? Probably. Is there any value in betting them? I dont think so. This round of 16 has also been crazy so far with every game coming so dang close to being an upset. This one finally will be.

There is the natural anxiety of an elimination game, also Swiss play defense very well and it'll try to defend 1st half and frustrate Argentina.

Also it's a safe bet, because after the 27,5 minute mark, your're safe, because if there's no goals in the match, it's a push.

The Round of 16 historically is always close. If u don't wanna look to far back in history just look at the 02 then 06 then 10. Literally every ko stage gm was close. It's this way because most Rd of 16 teams are good

I believe Argentine probably advances today, but I still think the Swiss are the side to be on with the odds. First there is a good chance they go to extra time or PKs and there is a chance they win outright. Enough to justify the +100 odds anyway because there is also a good chance they push in regulation with a one goal Argentina win. My feeling is the Swiss win here in regulation 15% of the time, have a draw in regulation time 35% of the time, and lose in regulation by one goal (given their defense) 25% of the time. This should be an outright loser only one in four matches, meaning the +1 at +money is a no brainer.

As for the US, I was originally looking to get all over them.....I think they have a decent chance in the game.....until I looked at the odds. I was sure that Belgium would be -1 at even odds. Instead they are -.5 and this easily sways my opinion over to Belgium. Just another straight math play.

Good of luck either way. I would prefer to see the US advance on a personal level. It would be great to see two CONCACAF teams in the quarters.

Yes, that is true....but you have just named one of a bunch of different scenarios. Anyone could also say 'if Argentina doesn't score in the first half they are in trouble' or 'if it's tied at the half the Swiss defense will become even stronger'.

Argentina are not as good as people are thinking and the Swiss are better than people are giving them credit for. I am not saying that the Swiss win here, all I am saying is that I believe they are the side to be on.
