Bet less than 5% of your total bankroll at all times.

You are in the right place. People who bet big, and consistently win are always checking threads in players talk on SBR.

Seaweed, lakerboy - check in here - give the man some advice. If you get the right roll - look into VIP Sports - ask for Steve Stevens - notoriously hits 70% undocumented blowout winners.

In all seriousness - look through sub forums - each sport has a few that do alright but obviously long-term there are only a handful in the world that bet sports as their main source of income and win. I am not one of them - this is all fun money for me. Football is only sport I really know well enough that I am not just throwing darts - and there I bet my 5 strongest plays a week for the same amount trying to go at least 3-2 every week. Others will say they have better money management than that but that way i don't get into an issue where I am trying to rank games against each other and making some 3 units, some 1. I bet an amount that if I pick up a unit I can enjoy some things with it, but if I go 0-5 and lose 5.5 units I am not wiped out. Thats my money management and weekly ROI data points for you.

Im going to assume sarcasm. Don't follow him but isnt he basically down across the board in most sports and down substantially overall over his last 2 years or so.

Mine isn't technically correct but it works for me. I break my plays into units. Most my plays are around 1-3u with the occasional big play around 5-10u. 1u = 2% of my bankroll. Technically 1u is suppose to equal 1% of your bankroll but right now my BR isn't what it used to be. Hope this answered your question.

The few winners there are are mainly hedge and scalp players

Very low risk and slow rate of return but they do win

Those clowns betting one side 90% of the time get destroyed

Well as far as being up lifetime yeah I am.

I'm still working on my game though - I typically have 1 day every year where I go nuts and do something stupid and lose a lot of money, hopefully that doesn't happen again next year.

All the money management gurus on this site are annoying after a while. They claim that most sportsbettors go broke because they have no discipline, not because they don't know the game. I somewhat agree but I feel this has been drummed into people to such an extent because they've seen family members, friends go broke, heard stories, read books about going broke... that it has become the only key to success in their mind. It's just too much. I mean yeah it's important but if you want to actually make money in this game actually KNOW THE GAME. That entails watching hours and hours of sport day after day, week after week, month after month... Which a lot of people don't do because they can't (work commitments) or don't want to (social commitments, not actually liking sports that much). That's also a major reason why people lose. Now of course I do realise chasing is a major issue too not trying to diminish it. I know first hand.

Of course some people have other methods and claim they never watch sports and have their models spit out plays and bet them and they win that way. Good for them I guess. Not my way of doing things but having never tried I can't say whether it works or not. I am perfectly aware gambling is a numbers game in some ways and am perfectly at ease with numbers in general I just don't use them much for gambling, I prefer to use my feel for the sport I'm betting.

When you need to go big you need to go big too. I'm not talking all in big obviously, but you have to size your plays in my mind, I don't believe in flatbetting at all. Now if you want to do this you actually need a reason and only if you actually know the game will you know when to go big and when not to. It's also important not to fear losing. If you've already experienced enough disappointments as a gambler, you will be able to get over that hump.

In a sense being a guy who mostly goes with his feel that makes sense - a feel you have for a particular game can be strong, weak, GOY, whatever... If you just have a model spitting out plays to you, you're fine flatbetting and aren't going to sit there watching the play you had a huge feel for win by 35 as an underdog and think "This was the easiest game ever why didn't I pound it?". To each his own I guess.
