If you had 1K to invest in MLB and your goal was to strike it rich.....

Okay so maybe not strike it rich but to turn 1K into atleast 5K... maybe 10-20K

what would be your best way to get there?

$1000 deposit into a sportsbook and chip away with $20-$40 bets.....?

    or

Take a shot at a Futures bet right off the bat..

if so which Futures would you take that pays atleast 5 to 1 and has the best chance of cashing?

Mods please move thread to Players talk.

I doubt Seaweed and his crew will have sound advice for me since he is still trying to figure out the anatomy of a female body.

Find a solid rated book with a big bonus for mlb. Don't worry about the rollover since u will be playing this for the whole season. Play $50 games or couple if win bets. Parlays are ok in baseball

thanks. Any books that offer good bonuses that are reliable when the time comes to cash out?

BETUS offers bonuses but they offer very little betting options.

The only thing during the last 3 years in MLB with any consistency.... the favorites are covering like crazy on Sunday Night Baseball. You could do a Martingale system every Sunday night. Favorites winning like mad... it's sick.

When you take into consideration the BP, Closer, and their recent innings pitched, plus their hitter matchups, and manager tendencies--as far as the likelihood of a manager bringing them into a game, handicapping baseball can be very complicated. What's more, if you bet the whole game, you have to be aware of potential changes, not knowing if they'll even occur.

You can simplify handicapping baseball by playing the first five innings. I have also built healthy bankrolls betting baseball and using Heritage as an out, given they have reduce juice and they allow you to do a reverse run line of -1 on a dog, whereas 5dimes will only allow you to reverse -1.5.

If you get on a nice run in MLB and mix in some dogs, you'd be surprised at how fast your BR can grow, just betting $50 to a $100 a pop.

Paco and louisville both offering good advice. Solid book with big bonus, there are 15 games a day so rollover means little. Also since 15 games a day you need a dime line or you are giving away free units every week. Long term that is an unsustainable model.

Futures the vig is really high and you can get knocked out early if your first decision is a bad one. Remember even with the new format it's not hockey or NBA not too many teams make playoffs.

the ability to win in baseball is in turning a favorite into an underdog. Run lines/half game runlines buying off or on a number, team totals after they move, in game betting contrarian totals etc. There are a lot of ways to maximize ROI and minimize exposure in MLB. You have to be Johnny on the spot with some of them and think out of the box but no sport will turn over a bank roll quicker than MLB or a guy who know's what he is looking for.

Watching ball helps win at ball especially in game.

There are a lot of guys here who put the work in and are worth a read in MLB. Nasher, Coiner, Nutsack, Nino, and others pay a lot of attention to the game. Reading them won't hurt you. I may key in a bit more this year too for as long as I can stomach. I know my way around the bases a bit.

was thinking more like to win the AL east.

But i'm not sure what the current odds are. BetUS was showing 3 to 1 which is horrible. i was hoping to get atleast 7 to 1.

No way you'll see 7/1 unless you wait it out for a bit and hope Boston/New York start out hot. If you like them to win the East, then might as well play them on the WS future and hedge out if you'd want to. They could come in second in the East and the WS future would still be alive if they make the WC.

true. What are your thoughts on Orioles to win AL penant vs to win World series?

BTW in Vegas do they offer a futures bet for a team just to make the playoffs?

Im seeing Orioles +900 to win AL east on 5Dimes right now.

I like the advice Billy gave, betting only dogs and favorites on the runline is the way to go.

True although it does suck when you take -1.5 and a team wins by 1 run.

what are yalls thought on -1's?
