Pistons sink to another new low

Go on a 30-4 run against the Pelicans to take total control and lead by double digits heading into the fourth quarter, only to completely fall apart (again) down the stretch. Pelicans hit a shot with 2 seconds left and Detroit -- with a timeout in its pocket -- doesn't even advance the ball. A fan calls Cheeks a "fvcking idiot" walking off the court and Cheeks stares him down.

You can't make this shit up. Fvcking trainwreck franchise. Smoke, check in you stupid fatass fanboy.

It's the most embarrassed I've been in 30+ years of being a fan.

Just miserable watching both of them. Literally the most dysfunctional franchises in their respective sports.

Hey Smoke -- you'll be able to pick up that J-Smoove XXXXXXXL jersey on clearance for about $8.99 pretty soon.

He will probably get fired at the end of the year, and re-surface as a head coach in 2-3 years.

They should have given Peyton Siva a chance.

The Pistons were probably going to suck anyways, so they should have given my boy a shot and not threw him into D-League Hell.

It's pretty difficult to blow a double digit lead heading into the last quarter and lose the game outright against a team such as the Pelicans. I would clean house in Detroit.

Maybe they are just tanking on purpose at the end for better draft pick. How many games have they lost at the end?

Should've drafted Burke instead of KCP.

    Umm, a lot.

That's one way to look at it -- another would be to say Mo Cheeks is a fvcking idiot and they don't have anyone on their entire roster with a basketball IQ over about 20. Hard to win close games given all of that.

This is one reason why the NBA overall is such bullshit.

Fans should have a team they can be proud of. Whether a team sucks or is great, fans should know that they are getting legit effort for the hard earned money they pay to buy the tickets.

If even half of the players in the NBA gave Allen Iverson type of effort night in and night out, then the NBA would be worth watching again.

Give me Michigan vs MSU instead of Clippers vs Lakers any day of the week.

It's going to be damn hard to miss the playoffs in the East, but they're managing to do just that right now.

was a huge mistake signing both Jennings and Josh Smith. Could have easily tanked without them as well and no one would get suspicious, on a serious note though the coach needs to go I've lost count on how many 4th quarter leads they have blown this season and to make it worse their blowing those 4th quarter leads at home not on the road.

Dumars signed those two thinking they'd sneak into the playoffs and save his job. He can't even do that right. Favorite Piston player of all-time, but he's an unmitigated disaster in the front office and this might be his last hurrah.

At least they aren't collapsing in the 3q like they were earlier in the season. Now they are collapsing in the 4th. They have no emotion no heart. A bunch of dudes playing for the check. That's what you get when you make josh smith the leader of your team.

pistons really only have one good player in Monroe.....Drummond has his head up his ass and was a problem for the coaching staff at UConn......billups is ancient....stuckey overrated...kyle singler? bum.....these guys don't play a lick of defense.

haven't made an NBA bet that has anything to do with Detroit all season, win/lose/over/under... nope.

certain teams you just avoid in this split personality league

I avoid the Celtics the same way.....some nights brad stevens plays the few good players he has......tonight he played vitor favarani way too much...you could tell he was almost trying to throw the game....the starters were holding their own for the first 16 minutes then he played the bench far to long.

Actually, I think Monroe's developing pretty nicely. I'd honestly trade the rest of their roster if I could right now. Drummond is still very raw, but I see signs of potential if he's coached/developed correctly (biggest "if" ever).

Mo Cheeks, Josh Smith -- might as well trade for J.R. Smith while they're at it. None of these guys played college ball, either. Doesn't surprise me that they don't know how to play the game.

I saw a great interview with Jimmy Jackson about this recently. He said after his sophomore year -- when he was POY in the Big Ten and averaged 20 plus per game -- he didn't even think about going pro because he'd seen what NBA bodies/players were like and no team wanted anyone who wasn't "pro ready." He knew he needed another season even though he was regarded as one of the best players in America.

Then he gets even better his junior year, wins national player of the year honors, and still said it wasn't 100% that he was ready for the draft (even though he eventually declared).

Now, all of these teams pick guys based on "potential" and "projections." You give guys who haven't proven anything a ton of money, and then expect them to develop their game. It's ass-backwards. As a result, 85% of the guys picked are flops.

Doug McDermott is a good example. He'll get picked mid first round because he isn't athletic enough and doesn't play good enough D. He's a completely polished offensive product, though, and he'll make some borderline playoff team very happy while flunkees like the Pistons trip all over themselves trying to find the next "diamond in the rough." The whole system is a joke these days.

Monroe will be gone once his rookie contract is up. Guy is developing very nicely indeed and will get a max contract somewhere eventually

They'll trade Monroe before the end of the season.
