Why isn't the Super Bowl played on Saturday???????????????

This is the simplest notion that should have been implemented 46 years ago.

You have 2 weeks between the championships and the SB, so play the SB on Saturday so normal people can have a party. The NFL is run by a bunch of inbred, syphillitic, pampered dolts.

Don't give me a bunch of seemingly logical reasons for the game to be played on Sunday

Because the commish is a moron.

If the sporting event closest resembling a national holiday doesn't call for an extended weekend which gives most people the day off on Monday, having it on Sunday is ridiculous.

You guys have no idea what it's like growing up in a household that prohibited watching tv on Sunday. Me and my brother had to tape the game and isolate ourselves from anyone who would spoil the outcome. We would wake up at midnight and watch the game.

So yes I know how y'all feel.

However playing 95% of the games on Sunday and then not the big game doesn't make much sense.

Simply put, by having the game on Sunday, it extends the weekend.
NYC (NJ) has the game this year.
People will be coming in Thursday/Friday for the event.
They will spend boatlaoads of money on Saturday, shopping, bar hopping Saturday night, whatever.
Kickoff is late afternoon, early evening, the party goers can close down the bars Saturday night, get snotted and still recover for kickoff.

Corporate/sponsor thing is the reason why it's played on Sunday, plus it's a proven fact more people are home in front of their sets on Sunday nights, more so than Friday and Saturday nights combined.

Well yeah, those are the two main reasons why it's played on Sunday, but of course corporate tv ad money doesn't just talk, it swears obscenities.

sundays at 3:30 pm pacific, 6:30 pm eastern, the WHOLE country is out of church and ready for football.

    the world just follows.

TV guys know it's obvious why you put it on a sunday,

and plus 90% of the reg season games are on sundays

saturday is when most people go out to dinner and movie. no one stays home to watch tv.

moving the sb to saturday would have devastating economic consequences everywhere.

Which is why the tweener shows like Melissa Joan Harts old show, or the newer Disney shows that cater to the 13 year old set excels on Fridays.
Mom and dad let the tweeners stay up to 11pm on Friday's hand the kiddies off the remote and say "have at it kiddies, momma and dadda need to get their groove on"

Friday TV is huge for one market and one market only, the Disney and Nick tweener sets.

If the Superbowl is played at 3AM on Wednesday the corporate marketing will still take place, everyone will still watch it. It is too big- the only changes resulting from moving the game to Saturday would be positive. The reasons for not moving it to Saturday are..... ummm let's see, hit me in the head again and it should come to me.

if the game was on a Tuesday then "Super Bowl Tuesday" would be the catch phrase. it gets reverse-fitted, if that's a word

it's absolutely about tv and marketing. sunday 3:30 pm pacific, 5:30 central, 6:30 eastern, is the perfect time to play the game

also, saturdays are for college football

    sundays are for pro football

it only makes sense in ever freaking way to have the super bowl on a sunday.

    and it works

they play on saturdays in the playoffs because

    1) college football is basically over by wildcard weekend

    2) spreading out the games to 2 on sat and 2 on sun bring max viewership as there is no overlap

you guys cannot be this clueless?

notice how the AFC and NFC championship are both played Sunday?

that's because with only 2 games there is no overlap,

with 4 games there is 100% going to be overlap so they space them out over the weekend and do not have to compete with college football at that time

    TV and marketing 101 kids

what's there to be "clueless" about?

obviously it's not gonna change but if i had a nickel for every time someone said monday should be a holiday id have a big fukkin bag of nickels....the op makes sense...if you disagree then so be it....but dont be a pud about it

Should Be Played On Saturday. And Who The Bucks Only Drinks One Or Two Beverages Lmfao. The Game Lasts For About 5 Hours. Yeah Uh I Got To Work Tomorrow Give Me One Beer Lmfao.

Keep in Sunday, but I don't understand why it needs to be that late. It's not a starting time for any NFL games during the season. I say move it up 2 hours, make it like a normal late Sunday afternoon game.

Gotta be strictly for the TV. These guys get 2 weeks to prepare, moving it up one day wouldn't effect them. If it was moved to Saturday everybody would still watch, but more people would go out to bars for it and etc. Less people watching at home means lower TV ratings and less moolah they can charge for the commercial slots
