    CFB Wednesday: Memphis Tigers Outright Over Cincinnati

    I get Memphis +130 on ML on Monday. Talk about two teams with deceptive records, Cincinnati is 5-2, Memphis is 1-5, BUT...Cincinnati has faced the weakest schedule by far in the AAC as they rank 152nd in SOS according to Sagarin, and yet they are 3-4 ATS despite the weak schedule. That have faced just one team ranked in the Sagarin Top 100, and that was only 79th ranked Illinois who handed them one of their two losses convincingly 45-17! Memphis is ranked 65th in SOS, which is just OK but still considerably better than Cincinnati. Yet, Memphis has been in practically in every game, thanks to ranking 13th in the country in total defense. That defense held a Houston team that is averaging 42 points and nearly 500 yards per game to 247 yards a couple of weeks ago while losing only 25-15.

    I agree, Memphis is not the best team, but they are still learning how to win, That Houston game they were in the red zone several times and just had to settle for field goals. The SMU game just got out of hand due to some turnovers, they fought back nicely though.
    I like Memphis here, but I'm gonna take the points.

    I mentioned how bad of a team Miami of Ohio was on here early in the season. Cincy only beats them 14-0. Granted they shut them out, but only putting up 14 on Miami is not impressive. The total is low for a reason. Against a team with a good defense Cincy will struggle. The kid from Cincy is throwing at a 70% clip thus far. I look for that to change a bit tonight. Memphis held Central Florida in check and Bortles is a much better QB and Central Florida a much better team then Cincy. Cincy has a defense ranked way too high because of the level of completion. Not that Memphis is an offensive juggernaut. Memphis has a kicker with accuracy and a strong leg. Cincy has a rag for a kicker. If I read the dates correctly, Memphis has had 11 days to prepare and Cincy coming off the bye week. Does Tommy have em believing in Memphis-I think he does. Memphis is tough at home boys. GL

    Enjoy backing Paxton Lynch...yes he does have a good completion percentage but it is a struggle for this kid to throw over 200 yards...check down after check down after check down. Needs 5 throws for 2.5

    But he wouldn't be the reason Memphis would win, it would be the defense. So I have no problem with short, safe passes, I just don't want turnovers.

    LT, I hate to say it but over the last week or so I feel like almost every thread I see of yours is fade material.. maybe I just pick the bad ones... But I'm goin the other way here too. While you mention that Memphis has the 13th ranked defense, you neglect to mention that Cincinnati's defense is ranked #7. Yes theyve played bad teams, but the Memphis QB is horrible. Cincy has recorded over 340 yards of offense in 20 straight games. TWENTY!!! tonight will be 21. cincy by a touchdown

    thanks for the dropping line...no mention of change in cincy qbs throughtout the season, if you think memphis is easy because their sos good luck...some teams know how to win others don't, cincy believes..memphis will choke if its close

    I haven't bet this game yet, but leaning Cincy @ -2.

    Memphis really struggles to score. Winless @ 0-3 in conference while Cincy is 2-1. Both teams have had some bad loses. Cincy had huge adversity losing starting QB and more importantly the car accident that left a lineman dead. I seem to remember that was week#2 when they were pounded by Ill. They have been putting more points up recently and 2nd QB feeling more comfortable. Bearcats are playing to clinch a bowl spot, Memphis?

    Memphis has the UNDISPUTABLY better defense. Offensively, Cincy has been more impressive by a good margin but the strength of schedule inflates that. Overall, I think Memphis may be the better team. I'm on Memphis tonight at +2. Shitty line but oh well

    Lang has been right these last couple weeks...just saying. I've got Memphis +3. Cinn hasn't played anybody, Memphis largest loss this year was to Duke by 14 pts. Cinn lost to a team that lost to McNeese State (Division #2)...think Memphis defense will surprise some people here.
