Miracle Recoveries? What are some of your comeback stories at a casino/sportsbook?
I was in Vegas this past weekend and it was quite the rollercoaster ride.
Friday: Lost 5.5k
Saturday: Had two winning sessions.
-won 3k in craps (had a buddy who was rolling hot and kept hitting 4's and 10's where luckily i had over $100 on those spots and kept pressing).
-won 2k in BJ
Sunday: lost a parlay, won niners but lost KC bet still up about $800
So total I was up about $300 after being down $5.5k on Friday.
THEN the unthinkable happened.
2 hours before my flight, I didnt feel satisfied. I wanted to walk away being up like $2k. So I went to the $50 minimum tables and lost $2k in about 15 minutes. It was the fastest $2k I lost in BJ since I can remember. I walked over to the salon(high limit at the palazzo). Took out my entire bankroll of $10k (brought $12k to vegas). Told myself I wasnt even gonna touch the entire bankroll but here I am on tilt. It was my first time playing in this salon area but I wanted to play by myself and walked over to the $200 minimum BJ tables. There was a pitboss, his assistant?, and the dealer staring at me like I didnt belong. Its ok. Whatevers. I took out the $10k and of course they make me write down my Social for some BS IRS crap. Whatevers. I get several purple chips and mostly black chips. Every single bet I made, the freaking assistant would write something down in her clipboard. It was the weirdest thing. Ive never had anyone track my bets before. Every bet, she would write something down. I wasnt sure if she was writing down my bets or if I was winning/losing. I didnt care though. I lost quick though. I lost about $8500 and pretty much wrote this trip off as a waste. Then the unthinkable happened. I went all in with $1500 (3 purples), won. Then bet $1500 again, 11 vs a 10 (dealer), I thought about it for some time, doubled, hit 21, got back to $6000. No more $200 bets, I was on a mission to make my money back and ride this streak. I got back to back bJ with 2 $1000 bets and won a split. Once I reached $11800, I stopped. Too many times I lost my entire bankroll again chasing the small losses. So I got up, said thank you, no tip, and left the table.
Final result: Down $200 but left like a million bucks. That was my miracle comeback.
I'm not tilting. Never. Learned that the hard way over the years. As soon as I start feeling like I might go on tilt and make some bad decisions I go in my favourite whisky bar in the city. Cigar, whisky, newspapers. Or I go for a walk. I'd never place a dumb bet to make back what I lost. Not worth it.
Nice tilt session, happens to the best of us but you gotta stay away from the BJ tables. Casinos are bad news. I dont even go near those damn tables anymore and anyone I see there I just think they are fkn squares and I dont wanna be like that
Hate playing BJ in casinos..dealers are just too good. I always note myself that I will not beat a card game w/ a dealer ever. So i stick to sports betting and poker..where you hold your own luck. Cool story bro.
being down a few k to a bookie back in my college days and i was broke as hell. max teams you could parlay were 4 and max wager 200. It was a weird monday with only a few games to bet on that fall and to get even i hit a 200$ 4 teamer and put 200 on them all solo and went from down in dumps calling up mom dad/pay day loan type situation to downing some beer and sleeping like a baby that monday night
When I was 14 I got down a few grand trying to take a shot one week and I had maybe $100 to my name.No way to get even close to $500 let alone 3k and book was a "philly mob guy".Don't know if true but at my age I was shytting my pants. So naturally I did a parlay to try and get even on the last day of betting week with Pedro Martinez and Randy Johnson. Both games were never in doubt and I learned a life long lesson.
This week. I'm down 4k to a bookie on Saturday. I have no where near that amount. I caught fire and went like 8 -0 betting like 1k-2k a game. I placed 2k on South Carolina vs Mizzou and we all saw that miracle comeback. Hit a few more plays on NFL yesterday and finished it off with BoSox last night. Final result +3500. So a 7500 turnaround in 24 hrs. Lesson learned
Wish i had some miracle recovery stories like that myself..... My stories are kind of like that on a much smaller scale but I try to chase those small losses like you said and end up going $0....
To many times.....
