Just such a hard sport to judge.....Do you give more credit to 2 weak punches that land or 1 with more power in better location...?...There are just so many ways you can look at it.....How heavy do you credit the takedown?....only if damage is done? So SO many ways it can be viewed ect....

the referee and the doctor were going to STOP the fight going into the 5th round because of JJ injuries to the face but Jones PLEADED with them not to stop it.

the reason Gust lost that fight was in the 5th he was standing with his hands on his hips and at some points he was looking around and looked like he was lost and had no idea where he was. and that made lasting impression on the judges mind. going to the scorecards that was embedded in their brain and it took away all the work Gust put in over the course of the fight.

If it's scored round-by-round, and all three rounds are really, really close, then it can be scored 30-27 both ways. Easy, right?

Here's another: split decision is not a measure of closeness, morons. The judges don't say "hm, is this close enough to be a split decision or decisive enough to be unanimous?". The closest fight in the world could be a unanimous 29-28 decision, it doesn't make it less-close than a split decision. Jesus, people. Basic logic.

Generally split decisions are close than 29-28 UD's. I don't think anyone would try to argue that. However a split can be just as close as a 29-28. Of course it is obvious that if you averaged out all the 29-28's UD's and Split decisions you would see a difference.

Boxing has proven once again that its best event trounces 20 UFC events. There are many exciting young fighters like Leo Santa Cruz, Adrien Broner, Danny Garcia, Canelo Alvarez, etc. These guys will start headlining PPV events and carry the torch after Mayweather retires. I think we'll see 4 solid PPVs a year.

...How does that make it a draw? Jesus. If for three consecutive rounds, fighter A landed 10 strikes, and fighter B landed 7 strikes of equal power but also got a takedown for 20 seconds at the end of each round, who won? Depends on the judge. If a judge weighs a takedown more highly than three strikes, he'll give all three rounds to fighter B. If not, he'll give all three rounds to fighter A. Is that so hard to understand?
