Danny Salazar - Cleveland Indian starter

Danny Salazar will be making his second ever start tonight in Cleveland versus the Detroit Tigers.

His first start, against the Blue Jays, was in a word, stellar.

This kid is no flash in the pan shooting star rookie. The feeling here is he's going to be a top of the rotation starter for years to come.
The only issues many feel is if the kid is going to blow his arm out (he had Tommy John surgery in 2012, and is better than new again), but know this, he is no fluke.

Been pitching as a pro (minors) since age 18, now 23, posted mind blowing statistical numbers the past couple of years.
Struck out 15+ per nine innings in the rookie league, with a stingy WH/IP to go along with the power strikeout numbers, very nice BB/K ratio, and just as important keeps the ball in the park, yielding limited number of gopher balls.

    The book on Salazar is:

Filthy dirty fastball 94-96 range with amazing movement that has last second explosion.
Command is ordinary, but gets away with it becuase of the movement, but excellent control.
Will make a mistake up in the zone every now and then, due to his size, he's only 175 lbs, barely 6 foot, so he lacks the leverage other power pitchers have.

Curve ball is average to above average, it's a hard breaking ball.

Has a very good change up with very good fading action that drops off the table.

I'm thinking of making a small play on the kid, the line to me suggests the wise guys are hip to Salazar, witness the opening 5Dimes line Fister -122/+117
My thinking is, if the kid Salazar is a hamburger, that line would be bigger than -122/+117 versus Fister and that monster Tiger batting order and their ten game streak.

But know this, from what I read and hear from the advanced scouts, and the eye-popping minor league numbers.
I don't think this was a major league debut was a fluke.

    WOW. Impressive write up!

sounds like the next Justin Verlander. Are you taking the tribe tonight or this kid not quite ready for a team like
    Detroit?

Weather is going to be a factor in several games tonight.

Especially the case in Cleveland, game could be rained out before it begins, or filled with delays.

Salazar will not pitch more than 5-6 innings. He has not stretched out at all in the minors. The bullpen will be a factor. Handicap those matchups as well or limit your bet to FF accordingly

His idol is Verlander. He went 6+ on first outing I believe. All you need is 6 innings

One thing I do not like from a betting standpoint is that they are keeping him on a strict pitch count while they bring him back from TJ. That means 3+ innings from the CLE bullpen.

I think the kid throws six solid innings, I trust (for the most part) the back end of the Indian bull pen.

    On the Indians +104 1*

but how will he look in the 5th inning and beyond pitching like this ?

This might sound silly, but he may be better off giving up that solo shot to A-Jax than walking him on ball four.
I'll tell you why. Detroit probably would have done more damage with A-Jax on first, no out, and Hunter, Miggy, Prince, and V-Mart coming up.
Start fresh, with no men on, might pay off, oh sure, 2-2 sucks, but like I said, that Tiger lineup could have gotten five runs, with one on no out.

    Strikes out A-Jax !!!!!!!!!

    10 K's in 7 innings plus.
This kid is chucking a mother freaking gem, considering the line up he's facing.
He just has to fade Hunter here.
