There should be an investigation of AK-47 signing with the Nets for 3 million.

He gave up 10 mill this year to take 3 mill from that "Ruskie" owner. If there isn't money being passed under the table, I give up.

If that's true, definitely shady. But you can't blame him cause it's always country before team.

guy is good for 9 points 6 boards and 2.5 dimes off the nets bench. that's worth about 2-3 mill tops i'd say.

He opted out of his last year with Minny. It was for 10 million.

It's one thing to do it to either take more money or get more years somewhere else. What did he gain here???

You think the owner gave this guy a 10 million dollar contract, 7 of that under the table, to a guy that would be lucky to get 3 mill on a different team? Kirlinko is a role player. Role players in the NBA don't make 10 million dollars per year, unless you want to consider a 6th man a role player, which it really isn't.

Whatever though. Kirilinko isn't worth more than 3 million so who really cares if he gives him more money. If he does, that's his decision. It's a bad investment.

Umm the point here is not about 'how much he's worth'...the point is the dude left 10mill on the table like it was nothing. And goes to sign a 3mill with Nets.

Two possibilities: Kirilenko is retarded or the other one is the 'under the table' shit. Take your guess, I'll lean towards the latter since I don't remember too many retards that make it to the NBA.

Lebron left at least 7-10 mill on the table by signing with the Heat....
Garnett left at least 5 mill on the table by going to Boston...
Ray Allen left what, 5 or 7 mill on the table by going to miami?

You get the point. Kirilinko has never won a ring. I think a ring is more valuable than 7 million dollars. At least I would say so...

LeBron Garnett Allen.......Kirilenko. See the difference ? Money was no issue for the first 3, they were minting off endorsements (except maybe Allen).

Plus its a whole diff. story going from 10m to 3m than it is from 28m to 18m. If we was leaving 7mill to go to a team like Miami then MAYBE i'd understand. But to leave 7mill dollars and only make $3m in a year to go to a team that is not even a lock to make the Finals is absurd.

I guess we'll never know whats really going on, but IMO i think its a very stupid move if infact he's not getting paid anything extra and just the 3m.

Kirilenko is in a stable marriage, does not have 20 illegitimate children to support, does not gamble and generally does not throw away his money. He is already very rich so extra 7 mil minus taxes should not matter very much to him. I am more worried that he is going to play for Kidd who is going to be a disaster as a coach. The idea is that he is trying to win the title, not that this is going to happen with this Nets team.

Now, Prokhorov will likely make sure that AK is employed after retirement (maybe hire him as a coach after Kidd is fired, LOL). As to his fair market value, it clearly at least 10 mil/year. He was the energizer of the very good Twolves start last year, and then the injuries destroyed that team and sapped his motivation to play hard later on in the season. Remember, this is a former All-Star and Euroleague MVP, so playing on a crappy team that is not making playoffs is not appealing to him. I just think he made the wrong choice, he should've gone to Spurs instead.

He was the best player on T-wolves for the first 20-30 games last season, so yeah he is worth that much. Then he just stopped playing hard after it became clear Klove was tanking the season.

Now people are getting upset when people are playing to win.

He's worth 10 mill? The guy is a role player. Role players don't make 10 million dollars per year. Does Greg Monroe even make 10 mill a year? Kirlinko is a solid fundamental player that can give you a bit of everything. That's all. He's a good role player worth about 2-5 mill per year.

NBA free agency rumors roundup: Andrei Kirilenko signing raises eyebrows, free agent list dwindles

Andrei Kirilenko's bargain contract with the Brooklyn Nets has inspired some whispers around the NBA, while the remaining big name players on the market can't seem to drum up any serious interst.

Andrei Kirilenko shocked the NBA world on Thursday, as he stepped back from what most expected to be a competitive market and signed at a steep discount to join the Brooklyn Nets. He agreed to sign with the Nets on a three-year deal worth $3.18 million annually, which is a significant reduction from the $10 million salary he opted out of with Minnesota to become a free agent this summer. The small contract will add to a massive tax bill for the Nets.

    Zach Lowe @ZachLowe_NBA

AK 47 deal already drawing confused and angry whispers from other teams.
    7:34 PM - 11 Jul 2013

NetsDaily has more on the relationships that helped lure Kirilenko to Brooklyn:

Kirilenko, a personal friend and former teammate of Deron Williams, was believed to be in line for a contract at least twice as big, but it now appears that the 6'9" Russian forward has agreed to a lesser deal but with an organization that is likely to win and win big.

Perhaps more significantly, Kirilenko will join Prokhorov, the NBA's first Russian and European owner. Prokhorov and Kirilenko have been close for years. AK-47 played for CSKA Moscow when Prokhorov owned it and Prokhorov tried to buy out Kirilenko's Jazz contract in 2007 after he led Team Russia to the European championship.

If this isn't proof there's something going on, I give up. This is from two weeks ago......

Andrei Kirilenko turned down $10.2 million guaranteed for next season for the right to negotiate, at age 32, a multi-year extension with any NBA team, including the Wolves.

Kirilenko's agent, Marc Fleisher, said by text this morning that his client has decided to become a free agent.

Kirilenko had until today to make up his mind on an option year for next season and he went down to the final day before deciding from the south of France.

The Wolves still could re-sign their starting small forward from last season.

Kirilenko is seeking a three- or four-year extension because he believes this might be the last chance to negotiate the last big contract of his career.

AK was a fantasy stud. Dude stuffed the stats.

That said, the only investigation here is why someone would willingly put themselves in a position to pay AK 10 million.

People talking about all the money he left on the table to sign with Brooklyn. Got to realize that on NBA salary alone he's made over 100M in his career, 9 figures. You think he gives a shit about 7m now?

Kirilenko wanted a three-year deal with a minimum of $8 million per season, front-office executives said. Several teams, including the San Antonio Spurs, pursued Kirilenko with sign-and-trade discussions with Minnesota only nothing could get done. Kirilenko has history with Deron Williams, the Nets star. They played together for five years in Utah. Most of all, Kirilenko has history with Prokhorov. The billionaire owned CSKA Moscow, and Kirilenko played for him there, too.

An article about other teams crying about Kirilenko playing for less for a chance for winning will obviously say that they were told he wanted more money, it goes towards the premise of the article. I think he and his agent basically said whatever they could to Minny so they'd know he wanted to go in a different direction besides "Fukk you, you're team blows"

Look, no matter how you go around this, there's no way Kirilenko is getting less than 7 million dollars per year with any other team that wants him... yet, he settled for 3. He might say he doesn't need money now, but he already said otherwise before and no matter how rich you are, you are not going to just let 15 million dollars on the table to go to a team that's not that much of a lock for a championship run. He turned down the Spurs apparently who are more of certainty than the Nets.

Prokhorov probably bought him a mansion or something back in Russia, got the jobs for the whole family, feeds the dogs and such. And also drops cash bags on Kirilenko's house just for fun. Russians be crazy.
