Floyd Mayweather "Shortest" price since 07'

Opened -250 in late March, currently floating around -270/-290.....I cant stand the guy but this is free money IMO. Good article below, that weekend will be CRAY in Vegas.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. opened as the -250 favorite at the LVH SuperBook for his Sept. 14 bout versus Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, LVH assistant manager Jeff Sherman noted on Twitter. The sports book posted Alvarez as the +210 underdog.
William Hill opened Mayweather at odds of -270, and Alvarez at +230.
Mayweather announced the fight on Twitter Wednesday night. “I chose my opponent for September 14th and it's Canelo Alvarez,” tweeted Mayweather. “I'm giving the fans what they want. It will be at the MGM Grand.”
The -250 odds mark the shortest price Mayweather Jr. has laid in a title fight since he opened at 2-to-1 and went off at 8-to-5 vs. over Oscar De La Hoya in May 2007, according to pro handicapper Johnny Detroit.
Mayweather is 44-0 with 26 knockouts. In his last bout, on May 4, he earned a unanimous 12-round decision over Robert Guerrero at the MGM Grand in defense of his 147-pound title. Mayweather opened as a -800 favorite at the MGM Resorts sports books for that fight and closed at -600.
Alvarez figures to be a tough opponent, boasting a 42-0-1 record and a clear age advantage. Alvarez is 22, Mayweather is 36.
"Great event. Congrats to all involved. This is a terrific betting event," Art Manteris, vice-president of race and sports books for Station Casinos and one of the top boxing minds in Las Vegas, told The Linemakers. "Canelo is a super tough, exciting kid. But, Mayweather is too slick and too fast.
"It'll be exciting, though. And he'll be tested for the first time since I can't remember when. Might even have to show some heart."
Added MGM Resorts sports book VP Jay Rood, "This fight is more tricky on the first glance than all of the other Mayweather fights. Canelo will have and has had great support at the windows."
Alvarez unified the 154-pound titles April 20 in San Antonio with a unanimous victory over Austin Trout.
The Sept. 14 bout will be contested at a catch-weight of 152 pounds.
Beyond The Bets notes that the fight will be the centerpiece of a huge sports betting weekend. Earlier the same day, Alabama visits Texas A&M in what may be the most anticipated college football game of the season. The following day is obviously an NFL Sunday, which always draws big action, highlighted by the 49ers and Seahawks in primetime (Seattle opened as a 2.5-point home favorite at the LVH).
Says Rood, "Great fight, great game (Alabama-Texas A&M), and a big win for all of Las Vegas. ... Could be a historical day, and what better place to take in all the NCAA football and then the biggest fight of the year than in Las Vegas."
More about Mayweather: He likes to gamble ... a lot

You do realize Alvarez can win this fight. He hits hard! Hard enough to knock Floyd out if Floyd makes a mistake.

as far as canelo having alot of fights at a young age...its pretty common for mexican fighters who turn pro young to fight alot early

floyds defense is good....but he can be hit in the head if he makes a mistake....he got hit pretty good by shane twice...rocked once.....and one of them came when he missed a hook(kind of like roy missing his hook against tarver and having the left coming over it)

id be worried about one of those out of nowhere body shots that damage organs....like nard againt oscar...or what we saw from GGG against macklin.....

Pac KO...Silva KO...it seems its time for Floyd to get down. Im on Floyd here...but maybe he eats a shot from the powerginger and its all ovah.

Hes rockable as Mosley showed. Gotta compare Shane with Canelos power...cant imagine Shane being that much more powerful than Canelo...or?

Both in their prime, they might be the same but Mosley hit Floyd while past his prime so I'd say Floyd hasn't felt the power of a Canelo yet. Cotto maybe but I still think Canelo hits hardest right now.

Line will drop closer to fight time when every Mexican posts up on Canelo. If Floyd is in the same shape he was vs Guerrero he will win. Canelo is very stiff and will need to land a knockout punch to win.

Floyd is such a low price for a very good reason. He's fighting a guy that is fast and powerful with a variety of punches. Canelo will be 170 roughly in the ring and floyd will be 155 probably. Canelo is no robert guerrero it's a totally different animal.

Very risky fight I see 12 nervous rounds for floyd if he avoids getting clipped he'll win a decision if he gets popped buy this man who could legitamently be fighting at middleweight then all bets are off. Only thing I question is will canelos stamina be on par with floyds...

That shot Mosley hit Floyd with would have put Anderson Silva in the third row.

When Tyson was just released from jail... His first match opened at -280 and went to -320. He lost his ass.

Anything that opens -250/-260 I would be VERY CAREFUL!

You will know when Mayweather puts his bet down on himself for this match, as the price will jump from -290 to -400 or above.

I think this fight is going over.... don't like the price on it right now though. As the fight gets closer, I expect casuals to bring that line down.
Only advantage Canelo has here is size, weight and power.
Mayweather might be older but for a young guy, Canelo gasses amazingly fast
