Bagwell was a big time juicer. 20 HR infielder with a decent average without the horse steroids.

Correct and correct. With no one making it this past vote it's almost like it didn't even happen. A guy who's 21st all time in hits, most doubles all time for a right-handed hitter and the ONLY player with 3,000 hits, 600 doubles, 250 home runs and 400 stolen bases doesn't make it on the first ballot? Shows you how shitty the people who cast the votes are. 9 home runs short of being only the second player with Willie Mays to have 3,000 hits, 300 homers and 300 stolen bases. Absolutely laughable that he didn't garner 85%+ on his first try.

yeah i get the idea of the advanced sabermetrics or whatever but ive always contended that theyre reverse engineered to make gueyes who are subjectively better, statistically better and claim it's objective....some gueyes slip through the cracks...i mean obviously you know he doesnt compare to koufax

in reality there was about a 5 year stretch when he was truly a respected pitcher

i mean i could also say a hueuey like mark belanger was underrated (he was) but he was better than average at best and there are a million guyes like that

Not trying to say he was Koufax. Sandy obv rated as a top 10 pitcher all time. The topic of the thread is underrated. If Konerko is the topic starter than Finely is in the conversation. Look at the career stats. There was much more than a 5 year period of effectiveness there my man.

the koufax example was just pointing out the ridiculous flaws in that stat

he's 210th all time in era+ which obviously you wouldnt have used to state your case of him being underrated

at least in konerko's case he could still get 500 homers so there's that

Fair enough. I'll let those cancel each other out. In baseball, however, much easier to find a power hitting 1st baseman than a lefty starter who can pitch well for 12 years.

well there are about 8 1b's all time who have 500 homers so maybe not as common as you think...granted he probably wont hit 74 more home runs...then again i never said he was underrated either

After Tawny Kitaen was arrested by Newport Beach, California cops on April 1 for allegedly assaulting her husband, Cleveland Indians pitcher Chuck Finley, a split wasn't that hard to predict. On April 4, Finley filed a divorce petition--and sought a temporary restraining order against Kitaen--in Orange County Superior Court. Finley's portrait of his marriage is an ugly one: in the below court declaration, he claims his wife is a suicidal drug abuser who is so strung-out that he fears for the safety of their two children. To buttress his argument, Finley's attorney filed a declaration from the couple's nanny, who says that she is often asked by one of the kids, "Is mommy whacked out again today?" Finley also filed this detailed list of drugs he contends were prescribed to--and abused by--Kitaen. (8 pages)
