One of Lee’s best feats of 2012 was his finishing the season by pitching at least six innings and walking one or zero batters in 17 straight starts. That is a major-league record. Make it 18 after this one.

    Cliff Lee still bossin.

    8 2/3 IP 3 R 2 ER 6K 0 BB

Extended his all-time MLB record of 1 or fewer batters walked to 19 games now.

Absolutely has to be the early favorite for NL Cy Young.

He hasn't pitched against a real offense yet. He's beaten the Pirates and San Fran. Cliff Lee beat Atlanta in Atlanta after the Braves battered the Phillies for two straight games. Hen then goes and stops yet another two game losing streak and beats the Mets a night after the Mets crushed the Phillies 7-2.

Let's see Kershaw pitch against a real offense.

    kershaw 16 IP, 16 SO, 1 BB, 0.44 WHIP, 0.00 ERA, .118 BA

you cant argue with those numbers no matter who he faced

    What?

    Are you serious?

Are you really trying to say the level of competition he faced doesn't matter?

That is the most brained-dead and illogical argument ever.

Mets offense is better than the Pirates.

so when a pitcher makes the yankees offense look like shit whats that excuse? on any day a team can light a pitcher up .. it happens all the time .. look at oakland and seattles offense .. do you honestly think teams like this could put up 10 runs vs scrubs?

    cmon phili

    Whatever happened to common sense?

Saying beating the Braves in Atlanta after they scored a combined 16 runs the previous two nights against Roy Halladay and Cole Hamels is the same as beating the fukking pirates is just a dumb and illogical statement.

Let's see Kershaw shut out the Braves in Atlanta like Lee did.

    So what?

Kershaw gave up 3 earned runs the other night. Are you going to hold that against him like you do with Cliff?

BTW, Lee extended his ALL-TIME MLB RECORD of 1 or fewer walks to 20 consecutive games now. Kershaw threw 3 walks vs. Arizona.

    You can't prove it.

First real offense Kershaw faced all year and he gives up 3 earned runs and doesn't win the game.

Lee shut out Atlanta in Atlanta.

    Lee>Kershaw.

    You didn't prove anything.

Kershaw has faced one decent offense so far and he didn't win and gave up 3 earned runs. Lee hasn't given up 3 earned runs in a game yet.

Yes, I'm talking about this season, what else are we basing this argument on?

If you want to talk career, Cliff is better there too.

Cliff has played more and also is only like 50 games over 500 ... Kershaw at 30 will have better numbers than lee has now

First of all, this is pure speculation.

Secondly, it is completely fukking irrelevant to this conversation.

Cliff Lee is a better pitcher now and has been in the past.
