Kind of a Catch 22 for guys like Patty, JJ and I when you think about it.

I know if I got laid as much as the norm, I'd feel much better about myself.

Yet, to get laid regularly and acquire the self-esteem boost I desperately need, I have to feel better about myself and act like I'm confident and in control.

It's not plausible. I understand the "change your attitude" point of view, but those who offer that advice simply fail to understand that mental anguish and severe anxiety have damaged social losers like us to the point where a dispositional shift is no longer possible.
