ok look at those spreads, and week 17 let's say gb -7

    packers favored every single game

    favored by 1-3 (4 times)
    favored by 6-10 (8 times)
    favored by 11+ (4 times)

so let's assume they win 3 out of the 4 monster spreads. and let's further assume they only win 1 out of 4 as a small favorite.
they would still have to go 4-4 as a 6-10 point favorite to go 8-8

huge stretch of reality to assume they are going to lose a home game to a team like the jaguars or titans, and to lose a handful of games to the seahawks or bears/lions at lambeau.

i would be shocked to see the packers worse than 11-5 with that schedule

MM, one Rodgers injury is all it takes for a 7-9 season. Rodgers scrambles a lot and takes hits, he's been fortunate. Luck can always change.

By the way, your calculation seems to depend on a 9-7 figure. Have you looked at the NFC Landscape? 10-6 or no playoffs this year I think.

yes this is true but would you start a thread saying with certainty the packers will miss the playoffs and you will never post again if they make it?

I would if I were Lakerboy and had already promised to not post again pending an outcome that happened and then continue posting. 25% of the board has probably done that anyway.

Was just going to say the Bears win the division but just saw that Urlacher just had knee surgery and said his knee is going to be a problem all year. Hmmm

The Packers will win the division and the SuperBowl. To think they won't even make the playoffs is blasphemous

don't think lakerman. packers are stacked. injuries don't matter unless it's rodgers. they are the pats of the nfc.

GB could play awful and still go 11-5 with their schedule - that will get them at least a WC. Realistically they go 13-3 and take the div and home field.

Clay Matthews and Nick Perry are good pass rushers on defense for the Packers.

After Niners bruise them up in Week 1 they'll be shell shocked and have no confidence left.

Might even forfeit the rest of the season and play in the CFL.

Of course rodgers injury would help but pack will have a letdown year after they choked vs the gmen last year. So easy to say gb will go 13 -3 or whatever. I say they go 7-9 and don't make it.

This is the NFL- where the unexpected happens all the time.

Packers have only 2 non-winning seasons in the last 20

    Last 3 seasons with rodgers
    11-5
    11-5
    15-1

Bleacherreport and others want to sound smart by saying the packers will miss the playoffs, but come on rodgers was almost unstoppable last year and i don't see that changing enough to drop off 8 wins in a 16 game season

7-9? No chance. It's a quarterback league. If you have a top 5 qb you make the playoffs every year. Name me someone in the top 4-5 qb's that hasn't made the playoffs at least 3 out of the last 4 years....

Aaron Rodgers is todays Joe Montana. The problem with the Packers is their pass defense. Bad defenses causes their offensive to work harder than they need to.

I consider Romo a Top 10 QB, not Top 5 QB.

    1. Rodgers
    2. Brady
    3. P. Manning
    4. Brees
    5. E. Manning

I think you mean only 2 losing seasons in the last 20 years since Farve/Holmgren/Wolf joined in 1992. They did have a couple 8-8 years (non-winning) if you remember Ray Rhodes one year joke in 1999 and McCarthy's first year in Green Bay in 2006.

But this thread is about the Packers missing the playoffs. Packers have missed the playoffs 3 of the last 7 years.
