Luke I would think Betdaq is for the small player only

    I see very little growth

But my text was about Matchbook... I think Matchbook doesn't offer any real advantage. Betdaq can be useful from time to time.

Betdaq are used by a lot of big players/bookies to manage positions. They are a bit of a joke in terms of managing and growing a business, but they have somehow managed to attract bookies (primarily for horses). There are some strategies that work ok with BD but overall they are hard work to use. They have funded some API development to attract retail users.

Matchbook will never grow in Europe until they change their odds presentation.

Are Europeans too dumb to adapt?

Reminds me of JJ saying Yanks were too dumb to use exchanges.

But I do agree, they really would benefit by offering an option to display lay odds in the format exchange users are familiar with.

Yes they and many other non-US exchanges failed too. That is simply the nature of the beast. Liquidity is paramount and you don't get that without a virtual monopoly.

But that's quite a different thing to saying they are too dumb to use them.

Americans are traditional point spread bettors by nature

    Euro's are ML oriented

    Two different cultures

I was once only a meat and three vegies man.

    Then along came multi-culturalism.

Now I enjoy curries, rice, pizza and pasta dishes just as much.

funny i actually made my yesterday epl pick on matchbook - also 1 tick difference only, but lower cost.
both are only for players in major markets with bets 1000 usd or below... which satisfies most people just fine.
for those who do more, it's easy to reach higher discount at betfair anyway.

Everyone wants Betdaq to IMPROVE, everyone wants Betdaq to have more liquidity, everyone wants Betdaq to be like Betfair, Everyone wants Betdaq to give a shit.

Frankly, I'm sick and tired of waiting for Betdaq to step up.

I'm on the Smarkets bandwagon now, and hope they give it a better go than Betdaq schmucks have.

    I like Betdaq

Ok volume can be really weak at times, but you can often pick a nice little gem of a lay price in the Horse Racing markets which are actually better then Betfair prices.

Volume in the soccer markets can be frustrating but as KO get close you start to pick up decent market amounts coming through.

Payouts are fast & with a mega rich guy owning the exchange your funds are safe as well.

3% comm is also a plus point

Yeah its weird when I look at betfair for NFL and all the money being traded is on the ML with Patriots at something absurd like 1.15. Then there is their fascination with betting a tie...which they have to even have on golf match bets let alone soccer 1x2 instead of going for the 50/50 bet AH. I cant see a reason to bet soccer on anything but AH...the juice is SO LOW.

But what about the number of sports/markets they offer?

Was very light on when I last checked them out a few weeks back.

Yes JJ, Betfair is better than Smarkets, I have an account at both.
Some of us are hit by the premium charge and need new outlets.
