    SBR- site suggestion...

    Fantasy Sports

If 50% of the customer base is Americans, you are going to need a new outlet for us as the revenue dwindles down from Betjam, Greek, bookmaker, dsi, SIA, etc

You've created a few of these contests in the past and have one currently which means you are trying to get into that area, but now its time to really push it for Americans. Get situated with them legally, become an affiliate to get kickbacks from, and then Americans can buy fantasy cash at these shops with their betpoints...and also Become a Pro using these sites....

Then, create a fantasy subforum. Hell, might even want to create www.fantasybookreview.com as I don't think sportsbooks will become legal here within the next 10 years.

Online sportsbetting in the US is going to get much worse before it gets better. My idea will help SBR grow during this time in America and will be a common name for when online sports betting finally becomes legal so they can generate revenue immediately.

Right now all SBR can do is pray they can get into some Asian markets, but if they adapted to this they wouldn't have to be worried so much. Gold has to be worried about his job.

Check out this article written in 2009:
    http://money.usnews.com/money/busine...fantasy-sports
Before founding Fantasy Sports Ventures in 2006, Russo served six years as the NFL’s senior vice president of new media and publishing. He estimates that in 2000, the year he persuaded commissioner Paul Tagliabue to launch the league’s first official fantasy football competition, there were about 2 million fans playing fantasy football across the U.S. Now an estimated 27 million American adults play fantasy sports, translating to annual revenue between $800 million and $1 billion, according to the Fantasy Sports Trade Association, an industry organization that represents more than 110 companies. About 85 percent of gamers play fantasy football, and 40 percent participate in fantasy baseball. The average player is male, between the ages of 18 and 49 and boasts above-average income and education levels—in other words, a marketer’s dream.

Surely this number is only going up with the online poker and offshore betting problems these days, plus more people being aware it exists by word of mouth..friends telling friends

Fantasy players and sports bettors usually do not go hand in hand
Very hard to compete with billion dollar companies that run fantasy leagues

I would not play in fantasy if you paid me, waste of time kind of like poker

All pot luck like the lottery

Think about it...the books are leaving the US so SBR's profits are shrinking. I am sure they are doing just fine, but if fantasy sports are taking off, why not have a fantasy book review where it shows the percentages pay out, the top contests to enter, overlay in guarantees, amount of people in action at each site, etc etc etc.

Even if SBR doesn't profit GREATLY from this, when sports betting finally becomes legal (maybe a year, 10, or 100), the "fantasybookreview.com" can say Hey, check out the sportsbookreview for all the information on that.

Rudy, this is your best call since last football season when you told everyone to take South Carolina and Kentucky and that one if not both would win out right.

    I like the idea.

Much easier to win long-term in fantasy sports than gambling.

Pick and choose your spots/leagues/opponents and you can make a small fortune.

Rudy has a good point here to make it simple to become a pro also here in another way. I hope some of the mods see this and consider this. It sure would make the site a little better also.

    Damnit Rudy...

Put down the bottle and start your own website instead of trying to improve this one for 12 points a day!!!

    Now who "gets it"?

Look forward to your underdog winners this college football season...

You have a lot more control over fantasy teams than you do your bets. More strategy and less luck involved. Not instant gratification, but if you're willing to put the legwork in, you can make some serious money long-term at the end of the season.

One of the books I played at had a free weekly baseball/football fantasy challenge for a few years. Winner each week won $500. The salary cap was set pretty small so you couldn't take a team full of all stars, and each players value was decided by the % of members had that guy in their line-up, so the players cap hit fluctuated daily (grandfathered in at the cap hit you got them for if you keep them in your line-up). You even set the batting order, each place in the line-up awarded a different amount of points for each fantasy stat (SB was 12 points for 1st in order, but like 3 points for 4th in order, ect...), so there was lots of strategy involved. It was fun and I cleaned up at it. I probably won about $3000 or so in the two years I played those weekly fantasy games at the book. I think it would be great if SBR added something along those lines.
