I'm a huge braves fan since the early 80's. Dale Murphy and Bob Horner posters were on my wall.

Maddox is probably a top 10 pitcher of all time. He is number 1 in the history of the sport in accuracy. He couldn't cut the ball at first, he could only sink it. Then he learned the cutter and he could paint the outside part of the black with it. Every pitch. That is what put him over the top, learning that cutter.

Glavine for whatever reason was given a good foot off the outside of the plate so he just threw it there and that is why his stats were so great.

Smoltz had the nastiest split, maybe of all time. He had total control of the pitch.

Jurrjens ERA last year was 4.6. He has had some breaks this year. Hanson and Beechy are just as good. Braves have 4 really good, not great, pitchers that benefit from the pitchers park at Turner Field.

Hudson in his prime was a great pitcher, better than any of the current Braves starters will ever be. Hudson was a dominating pitcher in the American league and then national league. He is a little past his prime but still gets his A game on every now and then.

The starters also leave players on base and they bring in Venters who is maybe the best pitcher on the team. They don't get charged with those runners left on very often. I can't imagine that the Braves can keep Venters and Kimbrel. Best 8-9 inning combo in baseball.

It is nice to see an honest braves fan with an unbiased opinion. Hudson has had a very underrated career in my opinion and I agree his career will be the best on that staff. The braves have a great staff 1-5, one of the best in baseball. They are all very good pitchers, probably above average. But like you said, very good, but not the best.

The braves have an amazing staff... I never doubted that. But if possible, ill gladly put my money on arguably the best pitching staff assembled of all time. Even if it ends up losing, its a bet id be willing to make every day of the week... and im pretty sure most would.
