    Selling a Future

What's up guys...got a question for you all.

I put $175 to win $2,012 on Pittsburgh to win the Super Bowl early in the year. Now I'm trying to get off this bet because I'm going to Vegas for the Super Bowl, and truth be told, I kind of like the Packers. I don't have the cash to properly hedge, and besides, I'd like to have some of the cash for Vegas that weekend.

Does anyone know how I can "sell" this potential $2,187 win on the Steelers without hedging? Is there a place I can do this? I'd be willing to sell it all for $840, which is pretty much like getting Pittsburgh at +160. Anyone know how I can do this?

    Thanks guys...

if this was placed at a book offshore there is nothing u can do without hedging.

If u placed this at Matchbook or a exchange you could have bought it out without any cash in your account

@York--Not really. The highest moneyline I've seen is +125. That would be a return of 1,890, $300 less than my bet.

+125 is a small moneyline for a 2.5 point favorite though.

What are you talking about. If you put $840 on a +160, what would the return be?

    $840 on +160 would win $1,344.

    $840(the bet) + $1,344(the winnings) equals $2,184.

My bet pays $2,187. If you're going to be an asshole at least be right.

Sorry I thought you meant $2012 included your original $175 wager. Either way it was a nice bet when you placed it, and if you ride it out on the Steelers good luck.

No worries and thanks...I'll probably hedge at least a little but hopefully the Steelers can pull off the win.

Do you have a friend or someone that can lend the money to hedge? You can give them a small percentage and you are guaranteed money

    Just hedge the fcuker.

Money line Green Bay to win a grand and you'll be up several hundred at the very least.

    Don't be a jackass.
Do you realize how many fcukin poor people would love that gravy train you got.

    That's guaranteed vacation money
brand new LED flat screen 47"
paying for a few bills, (cable, internet, credit card)

If you had a legitimate Las Vegas casino ticket and you were living within a 100 miles of me, I would show up with 8 Benjamins and 2 Andrews because I would know that I have a guaranteed several hundred dollars either way the bowl goes.

You don't have the cash to hedge this bet, yet you're going to Vegas?!?

Lesson for the future: Back big odds or "futures" with Betfair - you can trade as I've done after backing Packers at 8.6 with Betfair, and laid them off at 1.75 Not sure how to answer you immediate question though, sorry.

you just have to explain the guaranteed money situation in which you now find yourself. you might have to share a small piece of it with them.

Mostly positive advice. Some are surprised I don't have the cash to hedge? I didn't know it was surprising that a college student doesn't have $1,000 haha.

Thanks for the offer, Tickler. The ticket is at Skybook. If it was a Vegas ticket, you guys are right, it would be a lot easier to find a taker. Probably is a bit more difficult since Skybook = cashout fees...or even with a free check, the issue of transferring the money from me to you after check is received(or if they can send a check to someone else?) A lot of risk involved in anyone who would buy.

Some great advice though...I appreciate it. I'll probably put $500 on GB as soon as I get to Vegas and not spend too much at the clubs until Sunday night.
