NFL Player News - Week 2

    Courtesy of Footballguys.com

DAL - WR Dez Bryant could return in Week 8
    Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer
Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (foot) may be most likely to return in Week 8 against the Seattle Seahawks, according to ESPNDallas.com's Todd Archer. Archer said Bryant could also return for Week 7 against the New York Giants at the earliest.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Cowboys are going to be cautious with their superstar wide receiver. Bryant should be ready to come back sometime around midseason.

DEN - RB C.J. Anderson should be ready
Source: The Denver Post - Troy E. Renck
Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (toe) should be fine for the team's Week 2 game against the Kansas City Chiefs after he suffered a toe injury during the team's Week 1 game, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Anderson needs to start producing if he wants to hold on to the starting job. Ronnie Hillman worked well in Week 1 with Anderson banged up.

ARI - RB Andre Ellington has PCL sprain

    Source: SportsCenter

Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (knee) suffered a Grade 1 posterior cruciate ligament sprain Sunday, Sept. 13.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ellington is expected to return in two to three weeks. In the meantime, we'll see Chris Johnson as the lead back for the Cardinals. Rookie David Johnson will get an increased role as the team's change-of-pace back.

CLE - No decision on QB Josh McCown's status

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown (concussion) is taking part in the concussion protocol but his status for the team's Week 2 game against Tennessee Titans will not be determined until later in the week, according to head coach Mike Pettine.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Pettine said he is planning right now as though QB Johnny Manziel will be the starter. Fantasy owners should plan on Manziel starting as well.

BUF - Coach happy with QB Tyrod Taylor
    Source: The Buffalo News
Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor played well against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1 and has the ability to beat a team with his arm and legs, according to head coach Rex Ryan. 'He beats you with his arm,' Ryan said. 'He's smart. You can't trick him. I mean, it's hard to trick him. Obviously, he has that added dimension with his legs. You know, he's great. He's got a great feel for it. … The great ones, they just got that presence. He has a presence to him.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners are happy with Taylor's performance. The offense looked good with Taylor running the show. He used his legs to keep plays alive or pick up rushing yards. Taylor also used his strong arm to attack deep. The team won big over the Colts even though Sammy Watkins was not involved. If they can figure out how to get Watkins the rock, the team could be even more explosive offensively.

IND - Indy to be cautious with WR T.Y. Hilton

    Source: NFL.com

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (knee) is day-to-day with a bruised knee, but the Colts will be cautious with him and he could miss one or two games depending on how he feels, according to a source with knowledge of his condition. Hilton led the Colts with seven catches for 88 yards on 14 targets in their Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's the wise move. The Colts have a ton of talent at the wide receiver position, so they could do more than just "get by" without him. Donte Moncrief's role on the outside will increase if Hilton sits out.

GB - WR Randall Cobb fine after Week 1

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) said he did not suffer any setbacks with his shoulder during the Week 1 game against the Chicago Bears. He said he is not sure when his injured shoulder will be completely healed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for Cobb and his fantasy owners here. This shoulder problem could linger, but so long as it doesn't get worse he'll be a WR1 for fantasy every week.

DEN - QB Peyton Manning uncomfortable in offense

Source: The Denver Post - Mark Kiszla

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning looked very uncomfortable in head coach Gary Kubiak's new offense in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens. He had just 175 yards on 40 attempts and also threw an interception for a touchdown. 'Peyton sometimes needs that spark. This is a new offense, something totally new for him. He's going to lean on us. And we can handle it,' CB Chris Harris Jr. said. The Broncos had just 219 total yards of offense in the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Manning needs to get comfortable as soon as possible. He was a bit grumpy after the win as the media was gauging his comfort level. Manning should have faith in the rushing attack and the defense to do the heavy lifting for the Broncos in 2015. He's a low-end QB1 at best in this new-look Broncos offense.

CHI - WR Alshon Jeffery most targeted Bear

    Source: ESPN

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (calf) saw 11 targets in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers despite dealing with a nagging calf injury. Jeffery caught five of those 11 targets for 78 yards.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We weren't sure how healthy Jeffery was before this game, but we all have a better idea now. As the focal point of the Bears passing game, Jeffery should be considered a WR1 for fantasy owners. He does have a tough matchup this week though.

JAX - TE Julius Thomas' timetable uncertain
    Source: ESPN.com - Mike DiRocco
Jacksonville Jaguars TE Julius Thomas' (finger) timetable is uncertain at this point because head coach Gus Bradley said he is not sure if Thomas will be ready for a Week 4 return.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Fantasy owners who added Thomas will have to keep looking for help elsewhere. Hopefully, you can make a move or trade for a guy like Tyler Eifert or at least Austin Seferian-Jenkins.

OAK - Can QB Derek Carr play in Week 2?
    Source: NFL.com - Marc Sessler
Contrary to a previous report, Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr (thumb) has a good chance of playing against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2 after receiving encouraging news from his MRI exam Monday, Sept. 14, according to a team source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners are going to have to watch this situation. Carr was diagnosed with a bruised thumb. His ability to play will be determined by how much the swelling in his hand goes down this week. You may not have Carr as a fantasy asset, but certainly guys like WR Amari Cooper and WR Michael Crabtree are startable options if Carr is effective.

HOU - OLB Jadeveon Clowney felt good Week 1

    Source: ESPN.com - Tania Ganguli

Houston Texans LB Jadeveon Clowney (knee) said he felt good during his limited playing time against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It was good to see Clowney out on the field making plays. Clowney recorded four tackles during the game including one tackle for loss.

OAK - Oakland will not add QB Christian Ponder

    Source: ESPN - Chris Mortensen

Free-agent QB Christian Ponder (Raiders) has been informed by the Oakland Raiders that they will not be signing him at this point.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's a good sign for Derek Carr. Ponder is on the team's emergency list at quarterback if they need him.

TEN - TE Delanie Walker could play in Week 2

Source: The Tennessean - John Glennon

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (hand) has a chance to play in Week 2 despite his hand injury, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep an eye on this situation as the week of practice goes on. If Walker practices on Friday, then project him as a low-end TE1.

MIA - WR DeVante Parker sees one snap

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker was on the field for only one snap during the team's Week 1 game. Head coach Joe Philbin said he wants Parker to be more comfortable with the offense before he sees more playing time, but he is moving around better on the field.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
We love Parker's natural talent, but he's got to get up to speed with the offense. He's a great deep threat when at full strength and with a full understanding of the playbook.

HOU - Houston not ready to name starting QB

    Source: ESPN.com - Tania Ganguli

Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien said he has a good idea of who will be the starting quarterback against the Carolina Panthers in Week 2 but is not ready to announce it at this point.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ryan Mallett should be the starter based on the way he played in Week 1. Brian Hoyer does not inspire confidence, and the team is better off going in a different direction.

DEN - WR Demaryius Thomas will be fine

Source: The Denver Post - Troy E. Renck

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hand) will be fine after he suffered a hand injury during the team's Week 1 game, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas is good to go as the team's no1 wide receiver. He should perform like a WR1 for fantasy owners in Week 2 against the Chiefs.

BAL - WR Kamar Aiken does not produce in Week 1

    Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

Baltimore Ravens WR Kamar Aiken caught one pass for minus one yard in the team's Week 1 game against the Denver Broncos.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Nobody should be shocked by this. Until rookie Breshad Perriman is healthy, the team won't have many options opposite Steve Smith.

BUF - WR Sammy Watkins not involved

Source: WGR Sports Radio 550 - Joe Buscaglia

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins had zero catches and just three targets in a Week 1 win over the Indianapolis Colts.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This has a lot to do with the coverage he received from Colts CB Vontae Davis. As long as the Bills offense is moving the ball, they don't really care who is getting the ball.

NE - QB Tom Brady excels against Rex Ryan

Source: NFL Network - Albert Breer

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady is 10-4 and is 317-for-534 for 3,744 yards, 25 touchdowns, eight interceptions and a quarterback rating of 90.1 against Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan since Ryan became the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens in 2005.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is going to be an interesting matchup to watch in Week 2. The game between the Bills and the Patriots will certainly have ramifications within the division.

DET - RB Ameer Abdullah plays more

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah (21) played more snaps than RB Joique Bell (18) and RB Theo Riddick (8) in Week 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Lions are likely to continue with some form of RBBC, but the rookie Abdullah is clearly the most valuable asset. He may not be built to carry a large workload, but Abdullah can rip off big plays frequently and he does a good job of making defenders miss in the open field. With his explosiveness, Abdullah makes for a nice RB2/flex play for fantasy owners.

CAR - RB Jonathan Stewart plays 50 snaps

Source: Charlotte Observer - Jonathan Jones

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart played 50 snaps Sunday, Sept. 13, which was a lot more than the team wanted to play him in Week 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stewart was not as productive as he could've been on Sunday. He finished with 56 yards rushing and 25 yards receiving against the Jaguars. Going forward, the Panthers should craft better ways to get him space as a runner. This makes Stewart a RB2 for fantasy owners every week.

    Wednesday Update

DAL - WR Dez Bryant avoiding IR-R
    Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer
Updating an ongoing story, Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (foot) won't be placed on short-term Injured Reserve, which would keep him out eight weeks. Bryant had surgery to insert a screw into the fifth metatarsal in his right foot.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A source told ESPN.com's Chris Mortensen the team expects Bryant to miss four to eight weeks. There are other reports which indicate Bryant could be out even longer. Fantasy owners need to scramble to the waiver wire for Terrance Williams if he's out there.

DEN - Anderson to play on Thursday

    Source: Cecil Lammey - ESPNDenver.com and Footballguys.com

In an interview with 105.5 ESPN, Broncos running back C.J. Anderson revealed that his ankle/toe injury was fine. "Everything is good down there." Anderson told Cecil Lammey on Tuesday. Anderson also said that he was going to play on Thursday night against the Kansas City Chiefs. On Tuesday, Anderson was a limited participant in practice.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Anderson's still the starter for the Broncos, and so long as he's healthy he's the lead back. Denver's offense was out of sync in Week 1, but that should start to come around with time. Anderson still has RB1 upside for fantasy owners.

NE - RB LeGarrette Blount, RB Dion Lewis to share?

    Source: MassLive.com - Kevin Duffy

New England Patriots RBs LeGarrette Blount and Dion Lewis could form a 50-50 split at running back in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills. Blount has scored 14 touchdowns in 12 games since late 2013 and is the team's best goal-line option. He figures to be heavily involved in the backfield moving forward.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lewis has taken over the role as the third-down back but is also capable of playing early downs because he's fearless when running between the tackles. When the Patriots have faced stout run defenses like the Bills, they have often given more touches to the change-of-pace running back. Keep this in mind when considering Lewis for your flex position.

DEN - QB Peyton Manning's status not a worry

Source: USA TODAY Sports - Lindsay H. Jones

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (back) downplayed being placed on the Week 2 injury report with a back injury. Head coach Gary Kubiak said Manning is just sore after the Week 1 contest against the Baltimore Ravens. Manning did not elaborate on his health.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Manning took some big shots against the Ravens in Week 1. That's something we're not used to seeing during his time in Denver. The Broncos offensive line will be under fire once again as Denver travels to play the Chiefs on Thursday night football.

DEN - OLB Brandon Marshall has broken screw in foot

Source: The Denver Post - Troy E. Renck

Denver Broncos LB Brandon M. Marshall (foot) said the screw in his foot is broken, but he will play through the pain this season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Marshall is a key player for the Broncos top-rated defense. Playing the SAM (strong-side inside) linebacker for the Broncos, there's a lot of action funneled his way. Marshall is a sound tackler, and he's also proven that he can get after the passer when called upon.

SF - Jarryd Hayne plays backup

    Source: FOXSports.com

San Francisco 49ers RB Jarryd Hayne was thrust into backup running back duties in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings. RB Reggie Bush (calf) left the game with a strained calf, leaving Hayne as the only active backup behind RB Carlos Hyde. Hayne was also supplanted as the 49ers' punt returner by WR Bruce Ellington after Hayne muffed his first punt return.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hayne is a fearless player, and that makes him fun to watch. Fantasy owners aren't adding him, but he's worth keeping around on the waiver-wire speed dial due to the run-heavy nature of the 49ers offense.

STL - RB Todd Gurley sees first-team reps

Source: St. Louis Post-Dispatch - Jim Thomas

St. Louis Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) received first-team repetitions Tuesday, Sept. 15. Gurley has not yet been ruled out against the Washington Redskins this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gurley has superstar potential when healthy. Even though he's not ruled out, we're not expecting him this week. We'll see if that changes as we get through the week of practice.

SF - RB Reggie Bush is week-to-week

    Source: NFL.com - Jeremy Bergman

San Francisco 49ers RB Reggie Bush (calf) is considered week-to-week with a calf strain, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners can forget about Bush doing anything for the time being with this calf injury. In the meantime, we'll see Carlos Hyde as their do-everything back. Bush will work as the team's change-of-pace back when he's healthy.

DEN - Defense ready for Week 2

Source: The Denver Post - Troy E. Renck

Denver Broncos FS T.J. Ward will return Thursday, Sept. 17, against the Kansas City Chiefs after serving a one-game suspension. FS Darian Stewart (groin), SS David Bruton (hip) and DE Malik X. Jackson (concussion) are all expected to play.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Broncos have the top-rated defense in the NFL. The Ravens were barely able to move the ball against Denver in Week 1, and fantasy owners with Chiefs players should take note. Things could get physical for guys like Jamaal Charles, Jeremy Maclin and Travis Kelce in Week 2.

NYG - DE Jason Pierre-Paul had surgery

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Dan Graziano

New York Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul (finger, thumb) underwent a procedure on his right middle finger before being examined by the Giants last week. Pierre-Paul's finger combined with the fact that he is missing the tip of his thumb has made New York pessimistic about Pierre-Paul's return this season. The Giants will consider repealing Pierre-Paul's franchise tag if he is not healed when they meet again in five or six weeks, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If Pierre-Paul does sign the franchise tender, the Giants will have the ability to place him on the Non-Football Injury list without pay if they don't think he's healthy enough to play.

TEN - WR Justin Hunter found not guilty

    Source: ESPN.com

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter was found not guilty Tuesday, Sept. 15, for an alleged assault and battery in a bar fight over the weekend of July 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With this decision, Hunter may avoid discipline from the league--but that's not a given. Hunter was only targeted twice in the opener against the Bucs, and he's got little fantasy value.

OAK - S Nate Allen placed on IR/Designated to Return

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Oakland Raiders FS Nate Allen (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Sept. 15. It had been speculated that Allen tore his anterior cruciate ligament in Week 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He's now eligible to return in Week 10. Allen's injury is going to make a thin safety position even thinner for the Raiders. Start your skill position players when they're going against Oakland.

SD - WR Keenan Allen facing different test

Source: The San Diego Union-Tribune - Tom Krasovic

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen will have a harder time producing the way he did last week when he caught 15 passes for 166 yards, according to teammate FS Eric Weddle. 'Keenan's going to go against different corners, better corners, a different scheme,' Weddle said. 'I'll be surprised if he has that type of game next week, just because of the defense we're playing against, [the] coach, and they see what [Allen] likes to do. They're going to take away those routes.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen was certainly at the top of his game in Week 1. Fantasy owners shouldn't get greedy and worry about his lack of a touchdown. The scoring passes will come...along with a ton of targets and receptions as the Chargers' no1 wide receiver.

ATL - QB Matt Ryan has done well vs. NYG

    Source: ProFootballReference.com

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan has averaged 284.6 yards and two touchdowns in three career games against the New York Giants.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ryan is going to attack a weak Giants secondary through the air with Julio Jones, Roddy White and Leonard Hankerson. He'll be supported by a rushing attack featuring rookie Tevin Coleman, and Ryan should perform like a QB1 for fantasy owners.

BUF - RB Bryce Brown released

    Source: FOXSports.com - Ross Jones

Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown was released Tuesday, Sept. 15.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brown has a ton of talent, but he's a bit of a knucklehead and has not matured on the field. He'll play fast and loose with the ball, plus Brown looks to make a big play on most every carry by bouncing outside. Some team should take a chance on him because of his explosive skill set, but the Bills gave up a fourth-round pick for him and they've moved on after only 15 months.

NE - QB Tom Brady thrives vs. Buffalo

    Source: ProFootballReference.com

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady has thrown for more yards (6,258) and more touchdowns (58) against the Buffalo Bills than against any other team in his career. He has an all-time record of 23-3 against them.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Just make the headline "Tom Brady thrives." Fantasy owners are over the moon about his Week 1 performance, and they're looking for an encore in Week 2. The Bills have a legit defense, but the Patriots may know how to hit them where it hurts. Brady is a QB1 for fantasy owners this week.

KC - WR Jeremy Maclin full go

Source: The Kansas City Star - Terez A. Paylor

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (back) was a full participant in practice Monday, Sept. 14.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

In Week 2 against the Broncos, Maclin is going to be blanketed by either Chris Harris Jr. or Aqib Talib. Either way, it doesn't make us excited by his fantasy prospects. Try to find a different WR2 for your lineup.

KC - TE Travis Kelce a full participant

Source: The Kansas City Star - Terez A. Paylor

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (hip) participated fully in practice Tuesday, Sept. 15. Kelce left the game last week briefly, presumably because of the hip, but returned.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It will be interesting to see how the Broncos cover Kelce on Thursday night. We like him as a TE1, and he could be a relief-valve receiver for Alex Smith early and often as the quarterback will be under heavy pressure from the top-rated Broncos defense.

NO - Defense a weakness in New Orleans

    Source: NFL.com - Marc Sessler

The New Orleans Saints allowed 427 yards to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1 under defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. Last year, the Saints allowed 500-plus yards in two games and 400-plus yards in six contests. Ryan's defenses have finished in the top 10 just twice since 2004 and 19th or worse eight times.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Something has to give here. We don't need another camera shot of Ryan rolling his eyes or throwing his headset. He just may not be what the Saints need at defensive coordinator. Nice hair, bad defense.

ARI - RB Chris Johnson the bellcow this week

    Source: ESPN.com - Josh Weinfuss

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson will likely be the featured back in Week 2 if RB Andre Ellington (knee) is out. Head coach Bruce Arians doesn't want to expand rookie RB David Johnson's role too much. 'In time,' Arians said. 'I don't want to put too much pressure or take rookies and give them too much piece of the pie too early. It's not healthy to put them in the situation too much.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ellington may not be out as long as originally feared. Fantasy owners should know that rookie David Johnson may not get as much of the pie as he could with Ellington on the shelf. That makes Chris Johnson a low-end RB2/flex option because of the size of the role. We're not expecting a lot from the veteran.

BAL - WR Breshad Perriman on the mend

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Baltimore Ravens WR Breshad Perriman (knee) is progressing and is expected back by October, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Ravens need a threat at wide receiver opposite Steve Smith. Perriman is that guy when healthy. We like his speed and ball-tracking ability, but this knee injury has delayed his pro debut.

Sucks to see Dez out. Not a Cowboy fan but he is the best player on that offense by far.

Ryan Mallett is starting for Texans this week, would think that would be an upgrade over Hoyer.

I liked Mallet in that 4th quarter. He looked sharp and also help cover my Houston teaser. Hoyer was good with browns before he hurt his knee

    Thursday Update

DEN - RB C.J. Anderson questionable for Week 2
    Source: DenverBroncos.com - Allie Raymond

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ankle, toe) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 16, and is questionable for Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We think Anderson will play Thursday. We see him as a low RB1 or high RB2 for this week due to the injury and the general struggling nature of the run game. If he were to miss time, Ronnie Hillman could be an interesting RB3 play with upside. As it stands if Anderson plays, Hillman is no more than an RB4. All things being equal given the low numbers last week, the solid KC defense and this injury, we'd be careful with Anderson.

HOU - QB Ryan Mallett the starter

    Source: ESPN.com - Tania Ganguli

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans QB Ryan Mallett was officially named the starter over QB Brian Hoyer for Week 2 against the Carolina Panthers, according to multiple sources. Hoyer started the season opener but was benched in the fourth quarter after going 18-for-36 and committing two turnovers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Again, it's better to get this out of the way as uncertainty won't help the Texans prepare and really waiting isn't fooling anyone. We wouldn't start Mallett this week. He's an uncertain quantity, so we have him as a QB3 right now.

CLE - Cleveland QB practice status

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown (concussion) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 16. QB Johnny Manziel (elbow) was limited.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The only guy we really like under center is Manziel because he can get you yards on the ground. If it wasn't for that we'd pass on the whole bunch. So if you have to start Manziel, keep an eye on this and make sure he's good to go.

ATL - WR Julio Jones feeling sore

    Source: ESPN.com - Vaughn McClure

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (leg) is feeling sore due to playing on turf in Week 1, according to ESPN.com's Vaughn McClure. Jones is not practicing Wednesday, Sept. 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

As we have said before, just a day of taking care of their WR1. Jones will be good to go this weekend and put up good numbers.

JAX - TE Julius Thomas cleared to practice

    Source: NFL.com - Conor Orr

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Julius Thomas (finger) was cleared to practice Wednesday, Sept. 16, but he still has a cast on his hand.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A good first step for the tight end, who the team signed to a nice contract this offseason. He needs that cast off before he can play though, so we still have time before he has any impact.

TB - WR Mike Evans practicing Wednesday

    Source: PewterReport.com - Zach Shapiro

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (hamstring) is practicing Wednesday, Sept. 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the Buccaneers and their fans. Jameis Winston missed him a lot. We'll see if this continues before we get too excited though, but we see him as a potential WR2. This could hamper Austin Seferian-Jenkins a bit, though for now we have him locked as a solid TE1.

KC - TE Travis Kelce practices all week

    Source: KCChiefs.com

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (hip) practiced in full Wednesday, Sept. 16, and is probable for Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kelce is the guy we feel best about in coming into this game and we see him as a very nice TE1 play. Denver's defense will be tough, but we believe Kelce can overcome it.

NYG - WR Victor Cruz has a hill to climb

    Source: ESPN - Ed Werder

Updating an earlier report, New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (calf, knee) has a calf strain that is limiting him right now, according to head coach Tom Coughlin. QB Eli Manning said he and Cruz have a lot to work on when he gets back.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It is not uncommon for guys trying to come back from one injury to sustain another and as Manning said, even when he is healthy the two need to get back on the same page. Unfortunately, this leaves the Giants receiving corps a bit undermanned, with Odell Beckham Jr a WR1 and anyone else too risky to play.

PHI - QB Sam Bradford moving fine

    Source: PhillyMag.com - Tim McManus

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford (ankle) is practicing Wednesday, Sept. 16, and moving around fine. Neither ankle appears to be taped.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That he was already getting X-Rays, while funny, highlights the concern everyone has had about him since the trade. Hopefully this is not a sign of things to come. We love Bradford against the Eagles, having him rated as a decent QB1 play. Hopefully the offense will be a bit sharper this week.

STL - RB Benny Cunningham might have company

    Source: USA TODAY Fantasy Sports

St. Louis Rams RB Benny Cunningham shouldered the load in Week 1 with RB Tre Mason (hamstring) and rookie RB Todd Gurley (knee) inactive. However, Mason and Gurley each practiced in full, and all indications are Mason might be able to debut this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If both play, they will eat each other's carries. We have them as RB3s right now, but if Mason is fully ready, Cunningham could see a lot less reps. Keep it locked right here and in the rankings as we approach game time.

NYG - N.Y. to air it out more often

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Ohm Youngmisuk

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin would like to see his offense air it out more after they were held in check in Week 1 by the Dallas Cowboys. QB Eli Manning's longest pass play was for 22 yards, and WR Odell Beckham Jr. was held to just five catches for 44 yards. The Giants' offense had 289 total yards. The Cowboys played their safeties deep after Beckham torched them in 2014. WR Rueben Randle finished with just three catches for 23 yards. Coughlin wants Manning to air it out more often in the home opener in Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if they can stretch things out a bit and the Eagles had some success doing that to the Falcons last weekend as they totaled 336 yards through the air. We think Beckham at least will be successful as a WR1, though we are less confident about the rest of the receivers who underwhelmed in Dallas. Rueben Randle is a WR6 with upside while Preston Parker is an uninspiring WR7. We think Eli Manning could be a nice QB2 as well.

KC - QB Alex Smith has struggled vs. Denver

    Source: ProFootballReference.com

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith has only thrown seven touchdowns in five career games against the Denver Broncos. Smith also has a 1-4 record against the Broncos in those games.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith isn't a good start against a tough Denver defense, even without the above history. He isn't going to have a ton of success against this defense so avoid him.

ARI - WR Michael Floyd practices Wednesday

    Source: AZCardinals.com

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (hand) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

As Floyd gets healthier, we'll see if he cuts into the targets of guys like John Brown and Larry Fitzgerald. Until we see him produce, just leave him on your bench or keep him on waiver wire speed dial.

TEN - TE Delanie Walker sits

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (hand) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep an eye on this. He had a decent day because of a touchdown, but his overall yards were poor. He might be a solid TE2 but with the injury, we don't trust he will play. We wouldn't plug in Anthony Fasano or anyone else with the Titans at tight end either.

NO - RB C.J. Spiller listed as limited

    Source: Buccaneers.com - Joe Kania

New Orleans Saints RB C.J. Spiller (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He didn't play last week and we don't think he will this week either.

OAK - QB Derek Carr leaning in right way

    Source: WNST

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr (hand) has given head coach Jack Del Rio optimism that Carr will play in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He has to have optimism as Matt McGloin is a McMess. If McGloin is under center, make sure you start the Baltimore defense. Well, you might do that even with Carr there since he looked shaky. McGloin hurts Amari Cooper a little, but he's stuck as a WR3 anyway this week.

STL - WR Brian Quick knew he'd be inactive

Source: St. Louis Post-Dispatch - Joe Lyons

Updating previous reports, St. Louis Rams WR Brian Quick (shoulder) knew ahead of time that he would be inactive for Week 1. 'We talked about it previously, before the season; I knew what was happening,' Quick said. 'It's not my call. I want to be out there, but I also want to do what's best for the team. All I can do is continue to work and make sure that I'm ready when they decide to call my number.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If you need help now, Quick isn't a guy you can count on. He may even be inactive again this week. While he appears healthy, it seems as though he is not ready for the field quite yet.

    Friday Update

TB - WR Mike Evans limited Thursday

    Source: PewterReport.com - Eric Horchy

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (hamstring) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 17. Evans said he feels 100% despite his limited status.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Right now we are projecting Evans as a WR2, though this continues to require watching. This also bangs up Austin Seferian-Jenkins' value. After looking like a potential TE1, we have moved him to a TE2 status, since Evans will take some targets away. He's got nice upside, but is a bit too shaky even at value in Daily Fantasy. On the other hand, Evans might be a nice start people are avoiding in daily because of uncertainty.

BUF - RB LeSean McCoy limited Thursday

    Source: BuffaloBills.com

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCoy left practice after experiencing tightness in his hamstring. "Do I expect him to play?" coach Rex Ryan said. "I certainly hope so." We're a little leery this week. McCoy looked a little off again last week, and while the hamstring is one of the reasons, he has looked bad since last season. So we'll watch but so far, not so good for the former Eagle.

    IND - WR T.Y. Hilton a game-time decision

Source: NFL Network - Rand Getlin

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (knee) is day to day and will likely be a game-time decision Monday, Sept. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're not loving this look against the New York Jets. He'll see Darrelle Revis at least part of the time, will not be 100 percent and the Colts offense was disjointed last week. If you take a chance on him, aim for him as a WR3. And keep an eye on this feed as we'll hook you up if he's deactivated.

STL - RB Todd Gurley a full participant again

    Source: StLouisRams.com

St. Louis Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Sept. 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We don't expect Gurley to do anything in the game, or at least not enough to warrant starting him in any fantasy format. The team will be careful with him and won't risk losing him for the season. Gurley returning, along with Tre Mason, makes Benny Cunningham not the fantasy value we expected. We have Mason as an RB3 and Cunningham as an RB4. If Gurley plays, we wouldn't have him in the lineup this week. All three will ruin each other's fantasy value this time out.

PIT - RB DeAngelo Williams can spell Bell

Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Ed Bouchette

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams, who gained 127 yards against the New England Patriots in the season opener, will still be a factor in the running game when RB Le'Veon Bell returns from suspension, according to QB Ben Roethlisberger. 'I think he's proven he can be a guy who can help give Le'Veon breaks. If he's tired, he won't be nervous to come out because he knows he has a guy who can step up right behind him and do great things.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's next week's issue, though there is the real likelihood (inevitability?) that he will see almost no carries when Bell returns so aside from insurance, Williams will probably have virtually no fantasy value from Week 3 on.

SF - RB Reggie Bush sits out

Source: Sacramento Bee - Matt Barrows

San Francisco 49ers RB Reggie Bush (calf) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners need to find a different option as a flex play in PPR leagues. Carlos Hyde should absolutely crush the "Beaded Curtain" aka the Steelers defense.

    Source: NFL

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (hand) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 17.

    Source: Jaguars.com

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Julius Thomas (hand) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

DET - WR Golden Tate returns to practice

    Source: DetroitLions.com - Tim Twentyman

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (quadriceps) returned to practice as a limited participant Thursday, Sept. 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Tate saw a lot less targets last week and we're not feeling great about his matchup this weekend. Right now he's a solid WR4, but no more until we see an increase in passes thrown his way.

JAX - WR Allen Robinson not on injury report

    Source: Jaguars.com

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Robinson (knee) is no longer listed on the injury report for the team's Week 2 game against the Miami Dolphins.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Robinson might lose some targets to guys like Allen Hurns, who performed well when Robinson was hurt last week. It's a bad matchup too, so we have him as a WR5.

JAX - RB T.J. Yeldon off injury report

Jacksonville Jaguars RB T.J. Yeldon (knee) is no longer listed on the injury report for the team's Week 2 game against the Miami Dolphins.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Yeldon is seeing plenty of work and will put up some OK points against Miami's defense. We see him as an RB3 with a little upside, but the Miami defense is solid and the Jaguars offense is still a work in progress.

NO - RB C.J. Spiller still limited

    Source: PewterReport.com - Eric Horchy

New Orleans Saints RB C.J. Spiller (knee) was still a limited participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Spiller won't add much value to fantasy rosters if he does play, which we don't expect. We could see him as an RB4 flex play maybe, but that's if you're desperate.

PIT - Thursday practice report for Week 2

    Source: Steelers.com

Pittsburgh Steelers CB Brandon Boykin (groin) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 17. LB Ryan Shazier (knee) and CB Cortez Allen (knee) were limited during practice, while SS Will Allen (concussion), QB Landry Jones (concussion), FS Mike Mitchell (hip) and LB Sean Spence (hamstring) fully participated in practice.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The defense is banged up anyway, and not all that effective. The Niners are keeping things short yardage and not throwing deep, but they still match up well against the Steeler defense.

MIN - RB Adrian Peterson needs to be more patient

    Source: ESPN.com - Ben Goessling

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson acknowledged that he's more comfortable taking handoffs from a quarterback under center rather than in the shotgun, but he admitted that he trusts offensive coordinator Norv Turner after he took four of his 10 carries in Week 1 from shotgun. Peterson gained only 10 yards on those four carries but said he needs to be more patient in his runs. He also said the biggest adjustment after missing most of last year would be his ability to recover after a game. 'My neck is still a little sore, which I assumed (would happen),' he said. 'But overall, my legs, my body, it recovered pretty well. It felt good to get out there and get some live action.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

His other issue is the fact that the offensive line is an outright disaster—and trust us, after suffering through the All- film, that's not hyperbole. We still have Peterson high in most formats, but we'll be watching closely and hoping the Vikings have a plan to protect quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and open holes for Peterson.

CLE - QB Josh McCown will play if he practices

    Source: NFL.com - Marc Sessler

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown (concussion) will start in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans if he is cleared from the concussion protocol and practices Friday, Sept. 18, according to head coach Mike Pettine. QB Johnny Manziel practiced with the first-team offense both Wednesday, Sept. 16, and Thursday, Sept. 17. McCown is already familiar with the game plan against the Titans, so the team isn't worried about missed practice time.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ultimately the only thing this does is pooch your Johnny Manziel upside play. We wouldn't start McCown and Manziel was only an option because he can run. Avoid this mess if McCown starts practicing.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Source: New York Daily News - Daniel Popper

New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (calf, knee) is missing practice again Thursday, Sept. 17, due to a lingering calf injury, and his future is unclear. Head coach Tom Coughlin isn't ruling out Cruz for Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons, but when asked if Cruz could be out a while, Coughlin said, 'we'll see.' The training and coaching staff needs to see Cruz run effectively before allowing him to practice. Cruz labeled his calf strain as 'minor.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Minor, but keeping him out of practice for weeks. Sounds legit to us. Sarcasm aside, even when he comes back, Cruz is going to have to work on his chemistry again with Eli Manning. The one player in the passing offense we like at this point is, naturally, Odell Beckham Jr. and despite a weak game last time out, we think he'll be prime WR1 this week against the Falcons.

MIA - WR DeVante Parker still working way back

Source: The Palm Beach Post - Andrew Abramson

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker's (foot) injured foot is fully healed, but his recovery is still keeping him out of the lineup. 'It's just a matter of him getting healthy,' QB Ryan Tannehill said. 'We can't put him out there and have him be a liability to himself or to us with his foot. He's working, he's close, he's getting closer by the day. But we have to make sure he's right.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He's got a lot of talent ahead of him, as Jarvis Landry, Rishard Matthews and tight end Jordan Cameron all saw plenty of targets. Parker would also have issues due to Ryan Tannehill's struggles as the young quarterback seems to be having issues getting comfortable again. We wouldn't start Parker (he's a WR9 this week) even healthy, but he could have value on your roster if you have the room.

Chris Johnson and bellcow in the same sentence. Never thought I'd see that again.

And I may use him in two leagues, another thing I thought would never happen.

    Saturday Update

CLE - QB Josh McCown ruled out

    Source: NFL

Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown (concussion) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 18, and has been ruled out for the Week 2 game against the Tennessee Titans.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCown had a "setback" in his concussion recovery and had to start the protocol over. It's possible that this is going to end up being more than a one week absence for McCown.

STL - RB Todd Gurley a game-time decision

    Source: NFL.com - Conor Orr

Updating a previous report, St. Louis Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) was a full participant in practice Friday, Sept. 18, and is listed as questionable for Week 2 against the Washington Redskins. Gurley will be a game-time decision, according to head coach Jeff Fisher.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If Gurley plays this will be a big win for his owners, but it's probably best to keep him on the bench if he is active because the Rams should be careful to not push him in his first game back.

TB - WR Mike Evans a game-time call
Source: 620 WDAE Tampa - Rick Stroud
Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (hamstring) will be a game-time decision for Week 2.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Evans is worth a start if he goes, although you risk a zero if his hamstring doesn't respond well. If he doesn't go Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Vincent Jackson will get more targets, but it will hurt the cause of Doug Martin and Jameis Winston, who need a full set of passing weapons to offset the issues with the offensive line.

NYJ - RB Chris Ivory tweaks groin

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory (groin) hurt his groin in practice Friday, Sept. 18, but head coach Todd Bowles isn't worried about Ivory's availability in Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts Monday, Sept. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ivory is still a good RB2 start on Monday night against the Colts unless we hear otherwise, but this specter of Ivory's past injury issues after a healthy 2014 is a bit scary for his owners. Bilal Powell could become an everydown back if Ivory misses time this year, and he might be worthy of a handcuff roster spot with Zac Stacy a healthy scratch in Week 1.

IND - Optimism around WR T.Y. Hilton

Source: New York Post - Brian Costello

Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano is optimistic that WR T.Y. Hilton (knee) will be able to play in Week 2 against the New York Jets Monday, Sept. 21. Hilton bruised his left knee in Week 1 and the initial belief was that he would need to miss a few weeks. 'I'm very hopeful,' Pagano said in a conference call with the New York media. 'He's progressing well enough. I'm hoping he's able to do a little bit of something tomorrow and the next day and get him ready to go.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We might not have the real hopeful news we want on Hilton until inactives are announced on Monday. If you have Phillip Dorsett or Eric Decker to cover Hilton, you can wait, but it still feels risky to leave him in your Sunday lineup if you have no recourse in the event of his being scratched on Monday.

CLE - QB Johnny Manziel starting Week 2
Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot
Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel will start Sunday, Sept. 20, against the Tennessee Titans in place of QB Josh McCown (concussion).
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Manziel is a boom/bust QB2 play against a Titans defense that wasn't really tested after Jameis Winston fell apart early. This is Manziel's chance to make the Browns think twice about going back to McCown once he is cleared.

TEN - TE Delanie Walker listed as questionable

    Source: NFL

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (hand) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 18, and is listed as questionable for the Week 2 game against the Cleveland Browns.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Walker is at best a game-time decision. It's best to have a Plan B lined up if Walker is your #1 tight end.

NO - RB C.J. Spiller questionable

Source: New Orleans Times-Picayune - Evan Woodbery

New Orleans Saints RB C.J. Spiller (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 18, and listed as questionable for the Week 2 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Spiller said he felt good Thursday, Sept. 17, but would not said he will be able to play.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Spiller might only play a smaller version of his typical role. He can turn any touch into a touchdown, so Spiller has startable value even on limited touches, but he's not a safe play for Week 2 even if he's active.

ARI - WR Michael Floyd listed as probable

    Source: NFL

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (hand) fully participated in practice and is listed as probable for Week 1 against the Chicago Bears.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Floyd should get more snaps than he did last week, but he is still likely to settle as the #3 target in the pecking order in this offense.

BAL - Friday injury report for Week 2
    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com
Baltimore Ravens OT Eugene Monroe (concussion) is ruled out for Week 2 against the Oakland Raiders. CB Rashaan Melvin (thigh) and WR Darren Waller (ankle) are questionable, while DE Chris Canty (non-injury), DT Timmy Jernigan (knee) and LB Daryl Smith (non-injury) are probable. Monroe did not practice Friday, Sept. 18. Melvin and Waller were limited, while Canty, Jernigan and Smith practiced in full.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Ravens offensive line could use Monroe since their skill players are so weak and they're facing Khalil Mack this week.

SEA - RB Marshawn Lynch has owned Packers

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch ran for a combined 267 yards and three touchdowns in two games last year against the Green Bay Packers, who he faces in Week 2. LB Clay Matthews played inside linebacker in just one of those games, the NFC Championship tilt in which Lynch ran for 157 yards. Matthews didn't play on the final three defensive series in the fourth quarter, though, when Lynch picked up 95 yards.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Packers run defense was gouged by Matt Forte last week, so that will certainly be the angle of attack for Seattle.

DET - WR Golden Tate expected to play

    Source: DetroitLions.com

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (quadriceps) was limited in practice Friday, Sept. 18, but he is listed as probable for Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Tate is being used like Percy Harvin in the Detroit pass offense. He has limited upside even when completely healthy.

WAS - TE Jordan Reed's Week 2 status in question

    Source: Redskins.com
Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (quadriceps) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 18, and is listed as questionable for the Week 2 game against the St. Louis Rams.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Reed says he's going to play. Have a backup ready just in case, but you can probably proceed as if Reed will start on Sunday. That doesn't mean he'll finish the game on the field.

STL - RB Tre Mason questionable

    Source: StLouisRams.com

St. Louis Rams RB Tre Mason (thigh) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 18, and is listed as questionable for Week 2 against the Washington Redskins.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mason is on the probable side of questionable and a solid RB2/Flex play in a good matchup against Washington.

DEN - Denver will mix up offense

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Legwold

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning was successful after the team fell down 14-0 in their Week 2 game, and he went no-huddle from the shotgun. But head coach Gary Kubiak has said the Broncos would pick their spots to let Manning 'do those things he's done better than anybody else in an offense.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

At some point Kubiak will admit that Manning just can't run his system. Until then, expect more uneven play from Manning, keeping him in the low QB1 range, if not lower against good defenses.

CHI - WR Alshon Jeffery questionable

    Source: NFL.com - Conor Orr

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) did not take part in practice Friday, Sept. 18, and he is listed as questionable for Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals due to hamstring tightness.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

At least it's an early start. Jeffery will still be somewhat risky to play if active, but he does have a good history of producing through muscle strains, including last week.

BUF - RB LeSean McCoy listed as questionable

    Source: ESPN
Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Week 2 against the New England Patriots.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The word is that McCoy will play and possibly still play a lot, but we wouldn't expect him to be too effective. This hamstring issue may linger as long as the Bills keep pushing McCoy on Sundays.

TB - RB Doug Martin likes facing the Saints
    Source: The Associated Press
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin faces the New Orleans Saints in Week 2, and he has rushed for more than 100 yards in two of his last three games against the Saints, including a 108-yard performance in his most recent meeting.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The offensive line is trash so even though we liked what we saw from Doug Martin (for the most part) last week, we can't go all in on him and consider him an RB2, and a low-end one at that.

    Sunday Update

NYG - WR Victor Cruz could be out until Week 4

Source: New York Daily News - Daniel Popper

New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (calf, knee) could be out be out until Week 4. He said doctors saw 'a little bit of blood' in his calf, his explanation for why the injury he initially labeled a 'little tweak' has kept him off the field for the past four weeks. 'I'm confident I'll be ready to go by (Week 4, Oct. 4 in Buffalo),' Cruz said, 'but it's all a matter of what the training staff thinks and what the doctors say.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Things were looking good for Cruz as he came back from the knee injury that cut his 2014 season short...then he injured his calf. This injury has lingered longer than originally expected, and he may get eased back in when he returns to the field.

TB - TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins to stay involved

    Source: ESPN.com - Pat Yasinskas

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins is going to remain a big part of the game plan all season, a coach told ESPN.com's Pat Yasinskas.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for fantasy owners who picked him up off waivers. He's a big, talented tight end who can be a fine target in the red zone. Jameis Winston targeted his TEs more than any other quarterback in the FBS last year at Florida State. That trend of heavily involving the tight end continued in Winston's first NFL start last week.

STL - RB Tre Mason not a lock for success

    Source: ESPN.com - Nick Wagoner

St. Louis Rams RB Tre Mason faces the Washington Redskins in Week 2, and he averaged just 3.3 yards per carry against the Redskins last year.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Washington's rush defense isn't bad, and Mason could be limited on Sunday. Last week, Washington held Dolphins RB Lamar Miller to only 53 yards on 13 carries. We're not counting on Mason to do much in Week 2.

ARI - QB Carson Palmer could shine in Week 2

    Source: ESPN.com - Ken Daube

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer faces the Chicago Bears in Week 2, and since the start of last season, the Bears are allowing an average of 293 passing yards and 2.7 passing touchdowns per game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We like Palmer as a QB1 this week for fantasy owners. This should reflect on the talented wide receivers too. With Chris Johnson as the starting running back, we could see more from the passing game.

HOU - OLB Jadeveon Clowney still has work to do

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans LB Jadeveon Clowney (knee) still has a long way to go as he acclimates to playing football again. 'I've got to still keep getting better and better,' Clowney said. 'My game is coming around. I'm working harder than I ever did, but I've got a long way to go. I'm always happy regardless of what's going on. I stay happy.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's good to see Clowney back on the field, but the 2014 number-one overall pick has a lot of catching up to do. Clowney spent all offseason recovering from microfracture knee surgery, but he's got star potential if healthy.

DAL - RB Christine Michael won't play

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jon Machota

Dallas Cowboys RB Christine Michael will not play Week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Executive vice president Stephen Jones said the Cowboys want to wait and see with Michael. Jones added that Michael is going to get his chance at some point and that he thinks he'll do well.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners who picked up Michael are just going to have to be patient. He's got all the talent in the world, and if Michael "gets it" he could be incredibly productive behind that Cowboys offensive line.

    ARI - Roster moves made

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals RB Kerwynn Williams has been promoted from the practice squad Saturday, Sept. 19. TE Joseph Fauria was released.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cardinals need options at running back with Andre Ellington out. Chris Johnson is going to start and rookie David Johnson will back him up against the Bears in Week 2.

NYJ - RB Chris Ivory questionable

    Source: NewYorkJets.com

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory (groin) is listed as questionable for Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a Monday night game, so that complicates things if Ivory is a late scratch. We think he'll play, and we like his chances as a RB2 with upside against a poor Colts defense.

DAL - TE Gavin Escobar could play more

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Triplett

Dallas Cowboys TE Gavin Escobar could see increased playing time with WR Dez Bryant (foot) out, particularly in the red zone, according to ESPNDallas.com's Todd Archer.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep an eye on this situation. Escobar may get used more in the red zone, but Jason Witten is still the primary TE for the Cowboys. It will be interesting to see how the targets are distributed without Dez Bryant going forward.

WAS - TE Jordan Reed expects to play

Source: The Washington Post - Mike Jones

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (quadriceps) said he expects to play against the St. Louis Rams in Week 2 even though he is listed as questionable for the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Reed is a TE1 for fantasy owners this week. Last week against the Rams, Seahawks TE Jimmy Graham had six catches for 51 yards and one touchdown.

SD - WR Keenan Allen expected to be returner

    Source: ESPN.com - Eric D. Williams

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen is expected to be the kick returner for the team against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2 since WR Jacoby Jones (ankle) is listed as doubtful for the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen is a smooth athlete in the open field, so it's not a shock that he could fill in as a return man. This boosts his value in leagues that reward return yards and touchdowns.

MIA - WR DeVante Parker's role uncertain
Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson
Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker had a good week of practice, but head coach Joe Philbin would not say if Parker will receive more offensive snaps in the Week 2 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
He is likely to play more snaps because in Week 1 against Washington, Parker only played one snap and ran one route. We like the rookie's upside, but know that he's got to get up to speed in this offense before he begins to play a sizable role.

    Monday Update

DAL - QB Tony Romo to miss eight to 10 weeks

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating a previous report, the Dallas Cowboys expect QB Tony Romo (shoulder) to be sidelined at least eight to 10 weeks due to the broken left clavicle he suffered in the Week 2 win against the Philadelphia Eagles.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

As expected. The Cowboys should get Romo and Dez Bryant back around the same time, and the NFC East is so weak that they can still win it, especially with a 2-0 start with two wins in the division.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The collision with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was scary, but at least it was not reported as a leg injury. Coleman got a short score before going out. We'll get a long look at Devonta Freeman with Coleman likely out.

CLE - WR Travis Benjamin totals three TDs

    Source: The Associated Press

Cleveland Browns WR Travis Benjamin had three receptions for 115 yards and a pair of receiving touchdowns in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans, and he added a 78-yard punt return for score.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Benjamin is a true boom/bust player, with all of his value coming on deep shots from Johnny Manziel. He's worth rostering at least as injury/emergency depth, especially if Manziel remains the starter.

OAK - QB Derek Carr tops 300 yards

    Source: The Associated Press

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr completed 30 of 46 passes for 351 yards with three touchdowns and an interception in a 37-33 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Carr's performance was night and day from struggles and injury last week. The Ravens were flat after fighting Peyton Manning tooth and nail last week and Carr had his. Next week he'll get the up and down Browns defense on the road.

OAK - WR Michael Crabtree busy Sunday

    Source: The Associated Press

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree had nine catches on 16 targets for 111 yards and a touchdown in a 37-33 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Crabtree looked as sharp as he has in years. It's still hard to picture the Raiders offense supporting two consistent fantasy options. Crabtree has at least bye/injury/emergency value off of the waiver wire this week, but maybe not more.

OAK - WR Amari Cooper shines in Week 2

    Source: The Associated Press

Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper had seven catches for 109 yards and a touchdown in a 37-33 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cooper had a big play to open the game, but was mostly targeted on very short passes after that. He's looking more like the WR2 you thought you got when you drafted him, but this is about his ceiling with Michael Crabtree also looking good. Cooper should draw Joe Haden next week against Cleveland.

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed had six catches for a team-high 82 yards in a 24-10 win over the St. Louis Rams in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Reed did not look hurt in the least bit as the Washington offense was way better than expected. As long as he doesn't have lingering problems, Reed will be a solid TE1 start against the Giants on Thursday night.

TEN - WR Kendall Wright held in check

    Source: The Associated Press

Tennessee Titans WR Kendall Wright had just two receptions for 17 yards in the Week 2 game against the Cleveland Browns.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wright got banged up and Marcus Mariota was better when he was throwing to his tight ends today. Wright is a flex play until the Titans offense establishes some consistency.

WAS - RB Matt Jones carries the load

    Source: The Associated Press

Washington Redskins RB Matt Jones had 19 carries for 123 yards and two touchdowns and three catches for 23 yards in a 24-10 win over the St. Louis Rams in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones was running hot like he did in the preseason. He'll force a committee with Alfred Morris, but unless Jones becomes the exclusive goal line back, both will be hard to trust as more than flex plays. Next week, the duo will play the Giants on Thursday night.

CLE - RB Duke Johnson totals 12 touches

    Source: The Associated Press

Cleveland Browns RB Duke Johnson had 12 carries for 43 yards in the Week 2 game against the Tennessee Titans.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson had a few nice runs, but he's not separating himself from Isaiah Crowell, or even moving even with him. Even more troubling is the complete lack of usage of Johnson in the passing game. He's probably on the cut list for priority waiver wire pickups this week.

CLE - RB Isaiah Crowell runs for 72 yards, TD

    Source: The Associated Press

Cleveland Browns RB Isaiah Crowell carried 15 times for 72 yards with a touchdown in the Week 2 game against the Tennessee Titans.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Crowell showed more juice in his legs than he did last week, and probably held onto the best share of the backfield heading into another home game against Oakland.

DET - RB Joique Bell does little in Week 2

    Source: The Associated Press

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell had four carries for two yards and two catches for 16 yards in a 26-16 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bell is becoming irrelevant in the Lions offense. He is only worth holding in deeper leagues.

CLE - QB Johnny Manziel tosses two TDs

    Source: The Associated Press

Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel completed eight of his 15 pass attempts for 172 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 2 win against the Tennessee Titans.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Manziel was asked to do little, but when he had a chance to land a damaging blow, he did. The team isn't quite sticking to the "Josh McCown is the starter" company line, so Manziel might get a juicy matchup against the Raiders traveling east next week.

DET - TE Eric Ebron with another touchdown

    Source: The Associated Press

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron had five catches for 43 yards and a touchdown in a 26-16 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ebron's touchdown came in garbage time, so it's hard to say he was a point of emphasis in the offense. He's a high TE2/low TE1 with the Broncos coming to town next week.

GB - WR Davante Adams taken off on cart

    Source: NBC Sports - Television

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams (undisclosed) left the Week 2 game against the Seattle Seahawks due to an undisclosed injury. He was taken off on a cart to the locker room.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Adams had his shoe off, which indicates a foot or ankle injury. Jeff Janis and Ty Montgomery will be nedded tonight.

TEN - WR Dorial Green-Beckham scores first TD

    Source: The Associated Press

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham had just one catch in the Week 2 game against the Cleveland Browns, but it was good for a 13-yard touchdown, the first of his career.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Marcus Mariota showed trust for Green-Beckham on the touchdown target, leading him and trusting his length. Green-Beckham isn't ready to play a big rol in the offense, but every success is a step in the right direction.

TEN - TE Anthony Fasano shines in loss

    Source: The Associated Press

Tennessee Titans TE Anthony Fasano had five receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown in the Week 2 game against the Cleveland Browns. He was targeted seven times.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Even though Delanie Walker missed this game, this is good news for him. Mariota seemed much more at ease throwing to his tight ends. If Walker can't go next week, Fasano could be a decent desperation start against the Colts.

TEN - RB Bishop Sankey takes step backward

    Source: The Associated Press

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey carried 12 times for just 42 yards in the Week 2 game against the Cleveland Browns, and he did not have any catches on two targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sankey had one week in the sun, but he's back to fantasy obscurity except for cautionary tales about the first drafted running back and assumed success.

TEN - RB Dexter McCluster leads the way

    Source: The Associated Press

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster carried 10 times for 98 yards in the Week 2 game against the Cleveland Browns, and he added four receptions for 26 yards.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Don't rush out to pick up McCluster, as this will be the nature of the Titans backfield. He could be a useful what the heck flex in potential high scoring matchups like next week's against the Colts.

MIN - RB Adrian Peterson bounces back

    Source: The Associated Press

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson had 29 carries for 134 yards and two catches for 58 yards in a 26-16 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peterson fumbled multiple times in the game, including the red zone, or he would have had a bigger day. He didn't look like top form hall of fame Peterson, but he was still very good. The Vikings have learned their lesson and Peterson should be featured again next week against the Chargers.

NO - RB C.J. Spiller struggles in debut

    Source: The Associated Press

New Orleans Saints RB C.J. Spiller had three carries for seven yards and one catch for 17 yards in a 26-19 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Spiller was a very small part of the offense, an offense that didn't look very dangerous against a Bucs defense that Marcus Mariota owned in Week 1.

TB - WR Mike Evans fails to catch pass

    Source: The Associated Press

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans had zero catches on three targets in a 26-19 win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Evans was not 100%, so this zero was one that could have been avoided with more caution. He should be healthier next week, but the Texans are a tough defensive matchup. Evans is looking like a complete loss for the month of September.

NO - QB Drew Brees quiet against Tampa Bay

    Source:

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees completed 24 of 38 pass attempts for 255 yards with one touchdown and one interception in a 26-19 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brees isn't looking any better than he did last year, which was chalked up to injuries in the optimistic narrative. Next week at Carolina is a poor matchup for Saints and it might be best to avoid all of them except maybe Mark Ingram.

SF - QB Colin Kaepernick posts big line

    Source: The Associated Press

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick completed 33 of 46 pass attempts for 335 yards and two scores and ran nine times for 51 yards in a 43-18 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kaepernick did all of his damage in garbage time. He's still a shaky start against the Cardinals next week.

PIT - WR Antonio Brown approaches 200 yards

    Source: The Associated Press

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown had nine catches for 195 yards and a touchdown in a 43-18 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brown is playing at a Hall of Fame level right now. No wide receiver, and maybe no player in fantasy football is worth more.

PIT - RB DeAngelo Williams scores three times

    Source: The Associated Press

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams had 20 carries for 77 yards and three touchdowns and four catches for 15 yards in a 43-18 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams is worth carrying now that LeVeon Bell is back simply as a high-value handcuff in a terrific offense. It is also possible that Bell owners will give a lineup upgrade in exchange for Williams in a two for one deal.

PIT - QB Ben Roethlisberger shreds 49ers

    Source: The Associated Press

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger threw for 369 yards and three scores in a 43-18 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Roethlisberger made downfield completions at will and also converted two two-point plays. The possibilities of the Steelers offense with LeVeon Bell (Week 2) and Martavis Bryant (Week 4) are beyond exciting for fantasy leagues.

SF - WR Torrey Smith bounces back

    Source: The Associated Press

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith had six catches for 120 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown, in a 43-18 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith's long catch and run touchdown came in garbage time. He's going to be tough to count on in any given because of the unreliable nature of the 49ers pass offense. Unless teams go into prevent defense against them, don't expect much success.

ATL - Quiet afternoon for WR Roddy White

    Source: The Associated Press

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White had zero catches on one target in a 24-20 win over the New York Giants in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

White looked spry for his age last week, but he was lost behind Leonard Hankerson in week 2. This is going to make it tough to trust him at Dallas next week.

ATL - WR Julio Jones ties club record

    Source: The Associated Press

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones had 13 catches on 15 targets for 135 yards in a 24-20 win over the New York Giants in Week 2, tying former TE Tony Gonzalez for the most catches in a single game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Falcons offense runs through Jones as much as any offense in the league runs through a wide receiver. He could threaten Marvin Harrison's single season reception record if he stays healthy.

ARI - WR John Brown posts five receptions

    Source: The Associated Press

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown had five receptions for 45 yards in the Week 2 game against the Chicago Bears.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brown also drew two long pass interference penalties to set up Cardinals scores. His stat lines haven't impressed yet, but Brown's play is the stuff that fantasy success is made of. He's still worth a WR3/Flex start at San Francisco next week.

ATL - QB Matt Ryan throws for 363 yards

    Source: The Associated Press

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 30 of 46 pass attempts for 363 yards and a touchdown in a 24-20 win over the New York Giants in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ryan kept fighting when his running game evaporated. He'll go into Dallas next week to attack at Cowboys pass defense that Sam Bradford couldn't solve.

ARI - RB Chris Johnson gets 20 touches

    Source: The Associated Press

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson carried 20 times for 72 yards in the Week 2 game against the Chicago Bears. He was targeted once, but did not have a reception.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson was the lead back, but the rookie David Johnson got the well-blocked touchdown run. Andre Ellington is probably still out next week, but CJ?K is only a low RB2 at best heading into the matchup, assuming Ellington is out.

CHI - TE Martellus Bennett has so-so day

    Source: The Associated Press

Chicago Bears TE Martellus Bennett posted four receptions for 48 yards in the Week 2 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bennett is going to be a low ceiling option as a TE1 in this offense, whether Jimmy Clausen or Jay Cutler is the quarterback. He might still be a good play next week against a Seattle defense that had trouble with Jared Cook in Week 1.

CHI - RB Matt Forte has 105 total yards

    Source: The Associated Press

Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte carried 15 times for 61 yards in the Week 2 game against the Arizona Cardinals, and he added four receptions for 44 yards.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Forte was spelled for one drive by rookie Jeremy Langford, who scored a touchdown. Next week's outlook at Seattle is poor no matter who starts at quarterback, but you'll have to leave Forte in your lineup.

NYG - WR Odell Beckham Jr. erupts in Week 2

    Source: The Associated Press

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. had seven catches on 12 targets for 146 yards and a score in a 24-20 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Beckham had a long catch and run touchdown that was right out of his red hot run in 2014. He's looking great against the Washington secondary in Week 3.

SD - QB Philip Rivers breaks team record

    Source: The Associated Press

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 21 of 27 passes for 241 yards and two touchdowns in a 24-19 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2, moving him ahead of former QB Dan Fouts for the most touchdown passes in franchise history.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rivers is still a steady fantasy option even with Antonio Gates. He should be worth a low QB1 start again at Minnesota next week.

ARI - WR Larry Fitzgerald has huge stat line

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald had his first three-touchdown regular season game of his career in the Week 2 win against the Chicago Bears. The only other time he accomplished the feat was in a playoff game in the NFC Championship Game in 2009.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fitzgerald is still creating a lot of separation downfield. He is not in the decline phase of his career and neither is Carson Palmer. Fitzgerald looks like a great play in Week 3 against the 49ers secondary that got shredded by Pittsburgh today.

NE - WR Julian Edelman has two touchdowns

Source: The Associated Press - John Wawrow

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman had two touchdown catches Sunday, Sept. 20, in a 40-32 win over the Buffalo Bills.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Edelman's knock in fantasy is that he doesn't score, but he made a dent in that today. He's a WR1 so far in PPR leagues and there's no reason to think his production will trail off.

CIN - RB Jeremy Hill benched in Week 2

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Zac Jackson

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill was benched during the third quarter after losing two fumbles in Week 2's game against the San Diego Chargers. He finished the game with 39 yards on 10 carries and was replaced by RB Giovani Bernard.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bernard was arguably more effective before the benching anyway. This is a nightmare scenario for Hill owners unfolding as Bernard is showing he still deserves a big part of the backfield, and Hill is a step out on the injury plank.
