    Sunday Update

PIT - RB DeAngelo Williams being challenged

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams is not receiving any first-team reps despite RB Le'Veon Bell facing a three-game suspension, head coach Mike Tomlin said. Tomlin also said he is challenging Williams in ways that are uncomfortable for a 10-year veteran.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams is still clearly the best running back on the roster after Bell, and he'll get at least enough touches to be flexworthy while Bell is out. He is usually going in the double-digit rounds, so the price for Bell owners to cover his lost starts is relatively cheap. Williams looked like he still had some game left when he wasn't banged up last year.

    PIT - Le'Veon Bell not 100% yet

Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - Mark Kaboly

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) said his right knee isn't 100% yet, but he said it's close.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's certainly not comforting that his knee is not 100% seven months after the injury, which was not surgically repaired. Bell doesn't seem hobbled in any videos of his work and he's not on the PUP, so we would say to not worry unless it looks like he's going to miss the preseason. This deserves monitoring, but it hasn't risen to the level of changing Bell's spot in your rankings... yet.

PIT - Le'Veon Bell appeal update

Source: NFL Network - Albert Breer

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell said he doesn't even have a hearing date yet for an appeal on his three-game suspension.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Nothing like the NFL working through things quickly. Bell's suspension could be dropped to only a game or two. However, even if his suspension stays at three games, fantasy owners should be taking Bell off the board within the first five picks of every draft out there.

MIN - RB Adrian Peterson happy to be a Viking

Source: USA TODAY Sports - Tom Pelissero

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson said he is happy to be in Minnesota or he wouldn't have reworked his contract.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peterson reworked his contract, and now it's time to produce. After missing last year on the Commissioner's Exempt List, some are questioning how Peterson will bounce back. We think Peterson is going to be good to go and produce at an expected level (top-5 fantasy back).

SEA - QB Russell Wilson offered a deal?

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson has supposedly been offered a contract extension that would pay him about $21 million per year. The deal would also include a significant amount of guaranteed money.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If the two sides can't reach a deal by the start of the regular season, there's a good chance that Seattle puts the franchise tag on Wilson. That would give the Seahawks until mid-July to work out a new long-term deal with their quarterback.

MIN - WR Cordarrelle Patterson talks 2015 season

Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Matt Vensel

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson feels that this season is his make-or-break season. 'I've got a lot to prove. I need to get back to the old me and have fun and not get too serious like I did last year.' Patterson also said he believes this offseason is the best he's had so far in his career. He added that he's really been working on his route-running and feels that he's improved a lot.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We still have an appreciation for what Patterson COULD be in the NFL. However, Patterson has not yet played up to his full potential--not even close. Fantasy owners should scoop him up (at the right price) in dynasty leagues if you believe in his potential. Redraft owners should know that he's fourth on the depth chart behind Mike Wallace, Charles X. Johnson and Jarius Wright.

MIA - Miami may use more two-TE sets

Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero

Miami Dolphins TE Dion Sims' improvement could make it possible for the Dolphins to use more two-tight end sets with fewer wide receivers on the field, according to head coach Joe Philbin. '

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We like both Jordan Cameron and Dion Sims. While Cameron is the more athletic of the two, Sims is a big target who could work great in the red zone. Cameron is going off the board at TE8 (8.08) in 12-team PPR leagues. Sims is going undrafted in most leagues, but with Cameron's injury history fantasy owners should keep Sims on their waiver wire speed dial.

MIA - WR DeVante Parker a candidate for PUP list

Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (foot) will not be ready for the start of training camp and could be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Head coach Joe Philbin believes Parker will be ready for the start of the regular season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Parker is one of our favorite rookie wide receivers this year. At Louisville, Parker showed good ball-tracking ability on deep passes. He has good body control and can work routes near the sideline effectively. Parker has also shown the ability to win at the point of the catch consistently. On the PUP list to begin camp isn't a big deal as players can be activated at any time.

CLE - QB Johnny Manziel works with Jon Gruden

    Source: ESPN.com - Pat McManamon

Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel recently worked with former NFL head coach Jon Gruden in hopes of improving his film work and mechanics, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We like that Manziel is doing whatever it takes to improve his game. He's gone to rehab and seems to be more focused on his profession this season. Manziel's time with the Browns could be short-lived if he doesn't impress when given a chance this year. He'll likely begin the season as a backup quarterback behind Josh McCown.

GB - RB Eddie Lacy tough to bring down

    Source: NFL.com - Marc Sessler

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy ranked fourth in yards after contact last year, and he plays 'like he weighs 300 pounds,' according to an NFC North personnel member.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With 580 yards after contract, Lacy ranked only behind DeMarco Murray (740), Marshawn Lynch (707) and Le'Veon Bell (616) in that category. He's a power runner who can grind down an opponent as the game goes on. Lacy has 3,000 all-purpose yards combined over the first two seasons of his career, and he should continue to be a RB1 for fantasy owners in 2015. His workload is monitored closely by the Packers, so Lacy should be a top-10 fantasy back--not a top-5 back--this season.

NYG - QB Eli Manning's contract talks stalled?

Source: NFL Network - Rand Getlin

New York Giants QB Eli Manning and the team have not had meaningful, substantive contract talks in some time.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're not overly concerned here. Manning should sign an extension with the Giants similar to what Ben Roethlisberger received from the Steelers earlier this year (four years, $87.4 million).

Manziel could switch brains with Brady and he still would be a bust in NFL.
