Jay Cutler already has to deal with a lack of support from his team’s coaches and front office. Now he has to face the reality that he doesn’t have much fan support, either. As proof, we cite what happened at a recent charity auction.
The Chicago Tribune says an autographed Cutler football did not receive any bids at an auction for the Chosen Man’s Best Friend and Factor Felines fashion show event last month at an event at Bloomingdale’s on Michigan Avenue. The attendees of the Anti-Cruelty Society were not the biggest sports fans, but a book about former Illini coach Bruce Weber went for $120, so you figure an autographed football could raise some money.
After the football didn’t sell at auction, a fan called the Anti-Cruelty Society Thursday and paid the $100 minimum bid amount to buy the ball. He plans to give it to his son, a Bears fan.

Wow! Talk about hitting rock bottom. Maybe he should retire along with the other young players.
