I've never seen it used in reference to the NFL until you. It's an NBA cliche since MJ's teams surrounded role players.

If the public is all over this.
It's makes it seems like a Colts vs Seahawks super bowl could happen between the NFL 2012 drafted quarterbacks.

My book is BETUS , Ive been gambling with them for 10 plus years, I send money thru ** or ** thats in walmart, I can only send 3 slips per week in my name, so in the past ive send over 10,000 dollars using my moms dads brother name and if the amount is under 1,000 walmart did not ask for my id, because if they did well id show my id and the name on the ** would be my brothers, hope this makes sense, I sent 3 money grams for 700 800 and 900 dollars , they asked for my id every time

The lady behind the counter gave me a pissy attitude telling me do you know these people your sending money too? I wanted to say no you stupid bish im gambling on sports, but of coarse i couldnt say that , anyways one way around this is to have a close freind come with you and he can use his id to send money, but some of my freinds would not do it for me sayig they would get in trouble, i also sent 900 thru ** in my name and my moms name, they did not ask for id , my book takes up to 100,000 in bets, but would be a pain in the arse to send that kind of money, it is possible tho

So, the big beefy backup tight end that comes in for a play as an extra blocker in a passing down isn't a 'role player'

    Or even Colts / Packers.

It's the SB for the love of God, everyone gets rich off of any of the 4 teams that get in, SB weekend is a cash cow for the networks, the advertisement people, all the clubs etc. that hold parties, Arizona, the host state.......

Every NFL player has a "role", it's the ultimate team sport. I'm ashamed you don't understand this.

I'll try again to explain where the term "role player" originated. Maybe some of you guys are too young to remember Michael Jordan's championship years in the NBA. It was said that MJ was surrounded by "role players" that knew MJ ran the team and they simply had to rebound, pass, play D and do whatever else was necessary to support MJ's excellence. Basically, it was a back handed term to suggest that MJ won his rings with a bunch of "stiffs". Some truth to that, since only Pippin was alongside MJ for all those championship runs. It was a way of glorifying MJ's greatness because he basically won those titles himself, in that sense.

This doesn't apply in the NFL because no single player has that much of an impact on the game, like MJ had in the NBA. If anything, every NFL player is a "role player", making the term is meaningless.

We have two different definitions then.
To me a non starter whose on the team only as a pass rush specialist, that only comes in as needed, in this case, on a down where an extra pass rusher is needed is a role player.

The gold glove shortstop that can't hit for shit that's on the team for 8th inning defense only in close games is a role player.

Of course anyone who holds down a job in any walk of life has a role, even the guy who mops up the splooge in the peep show, knock it off with your smart ass semantics, and your i know it all attitude, it's really quite annoying, starters start, that's their function and specialists that only play when warranted are role players is what I meant, and you know it.

If you meant non-starters=role-player, fine, I had no idea that's what you meant. LaFell & co are starters.

People talking about Brady and Luck when the biggest factor for the game is the Colts run defense.

Great point. Most people are such casual fans, they can't understand the game beyond a couple superstar names.

Yes, because the Pats are a run-heavy team.. They ran for what, 15 yards against Balt?

    Good point.

It's not like Belichick would alter the gameplan depending on the opponent.

Or that the last two times the Pats played the Colts they had Jonas Grey rush for 199 yards and 4 TDs and Legarrett Blount rush for 160 yards and 4 TDs.

They were fighting back from two distinct 14 point deficits. Plus, BAL's strength was run D and weak on pass D.

    All good coaches make adjustments.

Colts have been getting ran over by the Pats. Obviously they are going to have to make adjustments and try to combat that. You think they are going to stack the box against Brady? Who's sticking Gronk? Landry? That's easy money for Gronk if you ask me. Colts have their hands full.

I have Colts +7.5 on a small parlay, but I do expect the Pats to pull out the win. That's why my big bet is on Pats ML.

Champ round SU winners are 73-2-3 ats if the line is less than 10. Bottom line is- if pats and sea win they will cover.

The favorite from each conference at the beginning of the playoffs rarely both make it. Since it happened last year I'm betting against it this year.
