Uhhh....it was a $5 - 15 team parlay to win $100k. Not exactly sure that was a bad move.

No he did not. So why you keep bringing up 50k is bewildering. I'm assuming you think hedging means winning half of what your other bet is that you're hedging against. That is not what hedging means. This guy could hedge with $10. It's not about how much you will win, it's about how much you risked.
