I don't get why people are saying RBs don't deserve big money. Running Backs are the most cheated NFL players in the league. The average career of a RB is 3 years and done. Why? Because they are often the smallest guy and get pounded 20+ times a game it's brutal to their body. So often times whatever they signed for in their rookie contract is going to utilize their best years in the NFL.

While it might be strategic approach to underpay a RB it still cheats them more than any other position that's all I'm saying. They have short careers because the position they play is the most brutal one.

You make a good point. RB is probably the shortest life span position in football. Do not blame RB's for getting the money while they can. However, in constructing a team with the salary cap in play, RB is one of those positions where you can find good runners at a bargain price. Guys looking for an opportunity. Overall, would rather spend more $$ on O Lineman than running backs. A bad team usually has a poor O Line.

Basically the same Vikings team that had Brett Favre. Christian Ponder would devalue any great running backs career.

Exactly. It's supply and demand. It's so much harder to find a good linemen than a good RB.

Point is saying that we only recognize good RB's playing for top teams just isn't true. Peterson. Chris Johnson was recognized even when Titans were bad. McCoy is good even if Eagles not that good. I think it's actually opposite. Best RB's are usually not on the best teams. Tomlinson never really won anything either.

funny how rb's are no use anymore. the nfl has become pretty sad. rb used to be the next most important spot after qb.

It's all of the rule changes over the years to open up the passing game, making RBs less valuable.

With the increasing emphasis on passing offense in the rules, DEs that can get to the QB are at an all time premium.

he just needs a little incentive and chip on his shoulder to play hard the way he did to that big contract, Vince and everyone was pushing for him to get paid and 2k.

you don't spend that kind of money on SPEED backs. Power backs tend to be a better buy IMO. A slight loss in speed and that RB is done. Most power backs last

I could see Miami, Dallas, Atlanta, St. Louis, Jets, and Cleveland having interest in him if they have the cap room.

DeMarco Murray is the biggest tease in the NFL. A locomotive with a broken frame. CJ wouldn't last two weeks in Dallas.

Miami should try to pick him up, they don't even have one good timeshare running back at this point.

Murday is on my 'never draft' list. Too unreliable

careers for running backs do seem to be getting shorter than they used to be, makes sense for them to leave college early

Emmitt Smiths rushing record is forever safe now. 10 years is too much to ask today for a running back. Frank Gore takes the hardest shots of anyone in the league, he will be braindead by 2017.

You are probably right. Adrian Peterson needs 5-6 more healthy and productive seasons just to have a shot.

Yes, kind of incredible that he played through torn meniscus, especially since his second half was better than his first half.
