Why is the Seahawks Line Dropping?

I am not complaining, I just snared Seattle -4.5 -110 at Bookmaker. I thought -6 was more of a "fair" line. This is the game that may ultimately determine home field advantage in the playoffs, and the combination of how great Seattle has been at home and how average the Saints have been on the road seems like a good enough reason to expect a safe Seattle win. But on top of that, the matchups on the field also seem to favor Seattle big time as Drew Brees will be throwing against the top pass defense in the NFL allowing only 180 passing yards per game on a tiny 5.4 yards per attempt, while Marshawn Lynch will be running against a New Orleans defense allowing 4.8 yards per carry. Maybe the line dropped because of the Percy Harvin news, but I don't think that is much of a factor in this game because the Seattle running game and defense are the biggest keys.

I'm on Seattle in this one as well. I'm gonna wait and see if the line drops any more before game time. The saints road play vs Seattle's play at home is my main reason for being on the hawks

Opened at -4.5 and is now -4.5. ML has gone from -233 to -220. Action seems split, if not favoring the Saints.

I guess I'm not understanding the question, LT. Not to mention, any "moves" between -4.5 and -5.5 are pretty much insignificant.

its not really effecting any key numbers... i think i'd rather get -6 at + money than pay juice at -5

    LT 2 questions for ya,

Is it true that super star 6 foot 4 cornerback Brandon Browner is not playing?

And how has the Seahawks pass rush been? will they get pressure on Brees?

harvin will be out and two of the top 3 secondary players for seattle are suspended causing people to put more money on the saints. I dont think it matters though i think lynch has a field day on them like he did in the playoffs 3 years ago. They only put up 17 in the dome vs atlanta a couple of weeks ago and they lost to the jets enough said and the niners shut them down. Seahawks know how big this game is they win by 10+

I remember seeing it at -6 when the line first came out. Now it's at -4.5. Still not too significant of a change since those numbers don't usually factor in. If it could get to 4 then I would consider jumping on Seattle -4 but for now I'm on the hawks moneyline

It rose to -6 by mid-week, which I thought was where it should have been, so the "drop" I was referring to was from the -6. And as you mentioned, the Saints are getting the bulk of the ML action, which I think is insane in this stadium.

-4.5 is a fair line, it opened -4.5 so nothing to see here for now.

They're a big public team and a 9-2 team that was available at +6. At first blush, that's an attractive number to any run of the mill gambler.

Browner is suspended for a year and Thurnond is suspended, but as long as Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Chancellor and Maxwell stay healthy, the secondary is fine. And Seattle pass rush is lethal.

I thought opener (and current) was light and -6 was the proper correction. We shall see.

From what I have seen the public is leaning 60/40 towards Seattle which to me means some fairly high Dollar bets have been made on the Saints and this has suppressed the line as Vegas looks to pull more action onto Seattle.

So; what do the whales know that we don't?

Im on the Saints with 12 days rest. Say what you want but the Hawks secondary, but will be light in the ass. Seahawks Defense is not the 49ers and just throw away the Falcons game because that is a rivalry game that is always close not to mention a short week trap game for the Saints sandwiched between Niners and Hawks. I think this is a FG game either way. 4.5 is a great number. I could see a 31-27 final.

"Jay Kornegay says: "The Seahawks opened minus-4.5 last week and sharply jumped to minus-6 on Monday. The Saints received some action early in the week and it dropped to minus-4.5 on Wednesday. By Friday, Seattle was back up to minus-5.5 but then again more Saints money showed up and the line settled in at its current number minus-4.5. We are seeing a lot of different opinions on this game from the sharps. The larger wagers are split on the game, and the number has consequently moved up and down all week. As expected, the public has sided with the Seahawks, as 60 percent of all tickets are on Seattle."

Maybe people realizing brees mnf record...kind of like brady vs manning in the cold...I don't know but I've seen both teams look very average at various points this year....I could see a blowout by either team because both are inconsistent at times...but they're winners so hopefully a good close game which you have to go with the saints then

I always wonder where these numbers come from and by most bets do they mean Dollars or tickets.....

at at the end of the day 4.5 seams like the "right" line to me, I will probably place a small ML bet on the Saints simply because I want them to win and I like them. Good luck to all, hope it's a good game because we have seen a lot if shit ones lately.

For bet%, scroll mouse over "Opener". I am seeing 50.7% on Saints. For Money, click on "Consensus" on the right. I am now seeing $341,625 (66.04%) vs. $175,692 (33.96%)
