Jets @ New England on Thursday

    Pats are -12.

Only 1 time last season did they cover a spread greater than 10. Also, look at who they were playing (Cardinals, Jets, Bills and Jags).

The total went under only 6 times last season.

I'm a little hesitant to take a total on this one but I think laying 12 against the Jets is a bit too high.

    Danny Amendola out.

    Jets +12

These are Rex Ryan's Superbowls. If Sanchez didn't play like he did against Pats on Thanksgiving all would be forgiven but he embarrassed the organization so bad that night.

No doubt Rex Ryan spent his whole summer getting ready for this where as I gotta think Bellicheck had bigger fish to fry than the Jets.

now the only question is do we tease Jets to +18.5 or Pats to -6.5.

We don't. It's called a "teaser" bro, that tells me all I need to know about it.

thats the homer in me. To answer the question not a lot but if you want the Pats, -6.5 is a lot better than 12.5.

After I donated last week...and against DE BILLS...of all teams...I 'm either fading N.E. or not betting at all...I know the JETS have problems...but at least they play hard...I really question "HOW GOOD NEW ENGLAND REALLY IS???"...These are just my thoughts...New England normally plays hard...if WEEK ONE...was the real New England...GONNA BE A LONG YEAR...May be ONE OF WEAKEST DIVISIONS IN NFL...

I'm all over New England. Oddsmakers know what they are doing and this line should be more in reality. After a close win think they will be focused at home and looking to blow someone out and send a message to the league? yea.

teasers can make you a lot of money if done properly.
True - the problem you would make MORE money not playing them. That is where the teaser argument breaks down. It feels like you are winning a lot but you could be winning MORE.

Who is Brady going to throw too? Amendola and Vereen definitely out. Gronk highly doubtful, let's call him out. Sudfeld and Dodson doubtful. Things are so bad that Nate Washington was resigned and may see time at WR.

Exactly. As usual, the public just assumes that NE is going throw down a massive score and blow their opponent off the map, when in reality, NE rarely covers large spreads....especially when they are down key players. The line is off. +12 is a gift. It's already at 12.5.

Obviously, it represents online sportsbook wagering. The public is on NE. Of course! They are playing the Jets...right?

That's the mindset of your average schmuck sports gambler. The Jets suck and NE will pound the crap out of em. Sure...NE will cover the 12 points....no problem.

Of course, few of those people actually realize that the Pats haven't covered a 12 point spread in over 20 games.

Patriots are dangerous after a loss, at home and a night game.

They won. Just want to point out when they lose, they are a threat the next game.

If I can get nyj ( an NFL franchise) getting 20 points at any time, and ad it to a couple more crazy spreads, I'm gonna take it. Hate on teasers and miss the boat dude. I doubt that NE covers the # but I don't worry cuz I'm getting 7 more. There's also a factual thing called strategic teases. Teasing games set at -1.5 -2.5 -7.5 and so fourth. If you don't see those lines and realize games are less likely to end in those scores, don't know what to tell you

You have gabbert ranked way to high. Geno better than him along with at least 2/3 of the backups in the league...

I think the Jets certainly are capable of covering the spread and even winning straight up this Thursday however the odds are not in your favor if you bet on them. New England is a dangerous team at home, they are pure professional at what they do; they severely underperformed last week and are well aware that everyone else is also well aware of this; they are going to go out with the intention of embarrassing an inexperienced team that most likely has the mindset of go out there and give it your best shot, which they very well may, and like I said the Jets are capable of covering the spread and even winning straight up but the edge goes to NE here.

This is the reason I'm staying away. Can see (receiver-less) Patriots blowing this up but of course all those points on the Jets look juicy given the situation in NE.

Jets should be able to cover double digits against the roster New England is scratching together. However, the win won't be in jeopardy for the Pats. They have too much knowledge about this Jets team, defensively they'll turn the ball over enough and offensively they won't be fooled by anything for any considerable length of time. What you're going to see is New England be efficient on first down with their running game, getting 3, 4 or 5 yards. From there, they don't need a list of top notch talent for Brady to throw to. It'll be like playing checkers for #12 when they get the job done on first down. Jets to cover the +12, but only just..

    According to who!?

Week 1 QB rankings from legit sources have Geno Smith out of the bottom 10. And interestingly, those same sources - the NFL's official stats/ratings, ESPN's Total QBR - don't have Tom Brady in the top 10.
