My initial reaction was this was too many points for a Lions' team that went 0-8 the second half of last year to be giving. But that was before I saw how inexperienced the Minnesota secondary is in terms of NFL starts. Calvin should be able to go off, and as much as I love Adrian Peterson, the Viking may be taken out of their game plan here if Detroit can open up a lead of more that a touchdown, which seems feasible. As for the long-term prospects of these teams, the Lions are not as bad as they looked last year and the Vikings are not as good.
