Does Chuck Pagano come back to coach if Colts were 4-11?

Any selfishness in this situation? Why not let Arians finish this year out since he is the one that turned the team around? Just a thought.

I think he comes back if they're 14-1, 10-5, or 1-14. I'm sure he discussed it with Arians as well, and they are on the same page with everything.

So, in my opinion, no selfishness in the situation.

If you are asking this question, then you know nothing about coaches.

Coaches coach. It's what they do. It's what they live for.

Pagano would have wanted to coach if they were 1-15 or 15-1.

    It's who they are.

    Everyone on the same page.

However....who wins Coach of the Year? Does it get split between Ariens and Pagano?

I think that would be a very nice idea.

Maybe Pete Carroll or Shannan get it..

I know its a feel good story but how do you give it to a coach who wasnt there most of the season.

I mean Colts werent as bad as their record last year, I think Shannan gets it, they had been awful for a few years in a row ..

then again who knows, give it to all of them

    I don't think its a silly question.

it didn't have to even be a conscious decision on the part of Chuck.

with all we know about science and medicine, there is still a very large and real % of healing that is a mystery and intertwined with the intangibles contained within a patient and their circumstances.

I could see how the Colt's season, gave Chuck extra motivation, hope, energy, and positive feelings (which come from positive healing neurotransmitters/hormones ect) this all contributed to Chuck getting healthy in time to come back. Hell the cognitive dissonance from his post game speech after a victory about dancing with his daughters at his wedding and winning super bowl rings, might have been enough.

If the Colts were 4-11 entering yesterdays game, Chuck might still have been literally too weak to get out of his hospital bed.

    Motivation is an amazing thing

Part of me thinks because they were doing so well, he shouldnt of come back to coach, obviously they won so its a moot point, but they clearly had a good flow with bruce bruce coaching them

It's not like this is anything new... you win the division, you get a home game.

Something a lot of people are not acknowledging is that a lot of the groundwork for the Colts record was laid by Pagano and his staff before a ball was even kicked off this year. Pagano is the head guy and he is back in his role. It was planned to go like that.

So yeah Arians has done a good job in Pagano's absence, but Pagano is the guy to take them forward from here. Who knows it may even give the Colts an extra spark.

Oh my, I can't believe you would think in those terms.

Guy is diagnosed as very serious , very fatal type of cancer and he is thinking about a spotlight?????

Has a family and kids and he is thinking about a spotlight????

Is a coach, a mentor, and has young kids playing for him as well as other coaches and feels as though he has let a team and those young men and families down and he is thinking about a spotlight?????

I can guarantee you that you are way way off on that thought.

    It ain't even close.

Honestly, I can't believe you would think that in this scenario.

Not hating, but really stunned at the notion.

If I was the owner I'd get rid of pagano and promote arians.

But no one would ever do that cuz its too politically incorrect.

seriously man. I couldn't believe it when I saw this thread.

these guys are a team and they are a family.

Every player on that team would have ran through a brick wall to win that game yesterday for him.

When you dedicate your life, and I mean life, to something that you spend every minute working on , with or thinking about, and when you are the person responsible for so many people and therefore families, it becomes part of you.

Anyone associated with this team has learned more in the past 4 months than they probably had in the past 4 years. About life, themselves, and others. Forget football, what was witnessed on the field was simply a byproduct of what was experienced by all involved.

This guy, what he and his family went through and will continue to go through IS this years version of the Indy Colts. Had this not occurred, it is highly doubtful they would have been anything near what they are.

    Pagano is the HC

    Bruce was named interim HC

    get it?

Pagano was the guy helping to build and put together this almost brand new team (compared to last year's roster)

Pagano was the guy coaching them

He found out he had something that had to be taken care of before he could coach again

    He is now back

    Pagano is the HC

he came back a few days after his doctor gave him the test results saying everything looks good. sure maybe if they were 2-13 going into the last game of the season, would he come back to coach the game? i would still say so, he wants to be back with his guys and go back to work. anybody who has dealt with cancer or any illness that is so harsh just wants to get back to normal as soon as possible.

The way I see it is this.....he's the HC, bottom line. He has the right to come back and none of us can judge his heart and motives. That said, I do believe that there are people in this world who have/will use something so deeply moving and serious, to promote themselves. To think otherwise, is being naive. There are some people who can be so selfish no matter what the circumstances are. Again, I have no idea as to where Pagano's heart is and I cannot judge his motive. He has the right to be the HC, no matter what the situation is. He should be continued to be prayed for as he may not be out of the woods yet. Cancer is an ugly, ugly thing.
