I remember during one of his ESPN shows where he breaks down the QB and talks with them he said

"If I was a coach, and believe me I will be one again, I would do ....."

He'll be back with 3 years

Chuckie was pretty intense when he was a coach of both Oakland and Tampa Bay.

If the right opportunity comes along I could see him back. I am hoping in a couple of year with the Giants if Coughlin hangs it up by then.

I would prefer Cowher first though.

Cowher and gruden could have gotten back into coaching a few years ago if they wanted to. Coaching is a grueling job with long hours and they make around the same money in TV and work less hours so of course they would choose TV.

I always had a pipe dream hope he'd come to Notre Dame (wet dream). I know it sounds crazy, but the thought of that guy recruiting for a University is mind blowing. Kids would be lining up to come play wherever he was coaching.

If I'm in Gruden's shoes and had his gig, I wouldn't even give a passing thought to coaching again.

Gruden spoke with Pewter Report ahead of going in the Bucs Ring of Honor and he opened up about past flirtations with returning to coaching and keeping his coaching edge. The former coach gave a fantastic quote about how the research for his ESPN job is preparing him for a potential return to the sidelines.

“I’ve met with several people – I won’t deny that,” Gruden said. “People – just about every year I talk about coming back to coach. I’m not in here every day at 4:30 or 4:00 in the morning watching pinball. You know? I’m preparing myself to come back. I am. Every day. I’m preparing to come back.

“It helps me in my broadcasting and I think if you lose that edge … you can’t come back unless you are totally wired with college football, personnel, schemes, the CBA, how people are practicing, trends, you know. You’ve got stay on top of this stuff.”

I give Gruden a lot of credit... anyone have footage of his first couple of broadcasts? He was HORRIBLE.

He's actually pretty damn good now. It's all about entertainment. Doesn't matter if you say 100% accurate sh#$. Just keep the people listening amused.

Matt Millen... that's an entirely different thing lol

Unlike Sam and that moron JJ, Gruden has a plan, and is looking for a specific situation. The same situation that he found in Tampa Bay, who had a solid team but a head coach (Tony Dungy) who could not win in the playoffs. If Cincinnati, Dallas, Indy, or Kansas City ever get smart and dump those losers who they have as Head Coaches, Gruden may make a move.
