Does any player affect a point spread more than Manning?

In any sport. I dont follow lines too much in the past 2 years but i noticed this line has moved from Indy -1 to Indy +7.5 which the Manning doubtful status. Ive never seen a line move so much on 1 player. When lebron wouldnt play on Cleveland the line may move 4 points.

Has there ever been a bigger line movement than this in terms of 1 player not playing. And please dont mention a pitcher because thats obvious how a stud vs dud can change the line drastically.

He so good and controls so much he allowed them to hire a black coach as a pawn to fill the quota...

I'd say he is pretty important...

well of course hes important im not saying hes dosent control everything on offense and hes not fucknig incredible. The pheonix suns in like 05/06 or whatever year they played San antonio in the conference finals were like 4-10 without nash that year. But even him not playing a game would only move the spread about 4 points.

It's more to do with the horrible back ups they always have.

    Plus overreaction.

no one is worth 7 points, not even manning. But the books move it because they know every loser out there will bet against the colts if he doesnt play, they just have to hope they get enough 50 dollar bettors to outweigh the smart guys who are betting the other side. although throwing up that hook might slow some of them down a little.

It's warranted. I mean, I look at Indy, and without Manning, just don't think they're a very good team. He's the difference between them as a 6 or 7 win team vs. a 10 or 11 win team. In other words, from marginally bad to pretty good.

    Maybe Brady

Indy was going nowhere even with Manning

New england did just fine when they lost brady, i think Indy set itself up to die hard when they didn't prep a decent backup

Were talking about point spreads, before Brady got injured he was putting up ridiculous numbers (50 TD passes in one season) where the team was favorite by 17 or plus points on some games.

I can understand this drastic swing. Manning isn't just the QB, he is the de facto offensive coordinator. Him not being on the field is HUGE (just look at what happens when he only plays one series in those late season games). And now they are going to have a QB in there who has only had the playbook for 2 weeks.

I'm staying away from this game for real money (if I had to make a pick for a contest or something I'd take the Colts @7.5), but the wild point spread swing doesn't surprise me.

Tom Brady is a 10 point difference in the point spread.

The Texans will destroy the Colts. I am going to go all-in on the Texans week 1. Also need to sell my tickets to week 3 vs Steelers to some die-hard Steelers fans... do not care to watch Paint dry or Kerry Collins suck ass.

Indy has always had the worst backups in the league, that is half the reason

it's manning offense he call the plays, make the adjusments. if they're down 10 with manning, the players are calm because they know what manning can do, but with their backups, their D will be lucky to be off the field getting tourched 1/4 of the game

Anyone who thinks Brady is even close to as valuable as Manning is delusional.
