    Falcons Brass on Crack?

Five picks for J. Jones? Are you serious? Wow.. This is Herschel Walker deal all over again. Mike Holmgren of Cleveland should be brought up on charges!

I guess the Falcons plan on beating teams 34-31 next season as they all but gave up any chance to shore up their maligned secondary via the draft for the next two years.

i guess the falcon brass smarter than me but last i saw offense wasnt the problem with this team...with a aging Bal team and all those nice new picks cle has the next two years they might just be relevant at some point again..

Hey, when there is a player that can't catch a pass, ala Jenkins or Roddy (both suck ballsack, sorry), you gotta give up almost a Herschel Walker amount. Just sayin. Atlanta just f'd themselves HUGE HUGE HUGE by taking Julio Jones. The Browns scooped up DICKTONS of picks over a WR that cannot catch the football! Atlanta over the past 3-5 years are PLAGUED by WRS that cannot catch the football, yet, they gave up a king's ransom for, IMO, (and I've seen him play enough to say this), A SUPER physical Troy Williamson. YOU DO NOT f off a draft unless you get a "Calvin Johnson". WOW. I'm just shocked. If Atlanta got the kid from Georgia, I understand, but JULIO COULD BE the laziest WR I've ever seen with that kind of ability.WOW.

Call the police, the Falcons just got robbed...When do you think Holmgren will get out on good behavior? lol He should be eligible for parole after 3 years. He just buried the falcons.

I think they were after A.J. Green. It's reasonable on Green but on Jones is insane.

I was under the impression we were supposed to be shoring up the defense this year. I disagree that White and Jenkins suk. Are offense has not been the problem. I hope somebody knows wtf they are doing.

Atlanta has a good enough offense/system in place. I guess Atlanta is taking the longer term view of putting good WRs around Matt Ryan for the long term because he'll be a very good but never elite QB.

The obvious move is for Atlanta to shore up the defense ( secondary in particular) and add depth but they are doing this for the longer term.

The 1st rounder of next year is a little too much...maybe a 2nd or 3rd would be better But J Jones is a BEAST. Don't be surprise if he's offense rookie of the year. Very physical at the line. Has great speed. You will see a lot of resembles in Andre Johnson. So I can see why they pulled the trigger. Between him and Green....I'll take the more physical one.

They overpaid, but bringing up the Herschel Walker deal is just silly. To move up that far in the draft takes a lot of picks.

The point is, they gave up 5 picks to get Jones. How many picks did Dallas get for Walker, 7? Not that far off

They gave up too much but your ALWAYS going to over pay for elite talent. Or in this case projected talent. I really like J.J. but that is too much even for me and im all about bringing in elite talent. I wish the Pats did it a lil more. I would have no n/p giving up two # 1's , this years and next years. Id prolly throw a 3rd , but thats it. They do need help in the secondary but after giving D.R. all that $ their not cutting bait w/ him , they owe him to much still. And i really like Grimes , think hes very underrated. I think one could argue that theres a lack of depth there as well. Hey they made their pick , they obviously had plenty of time to think about it. That O will roll next year.

You do realize that #1 picks are worth a LOT more than later round picks, right?

I did the points math on this in the Holmgren is a master thief thread:

    http://www.sportsbookreview.com/forum/nfl-handic...ml#post9810232

In the Walker trade, Minny gave up 1st(21) & 2nd(47) in 1990, 1st(12) & 2nd(38) in 1991, 2nd(37) & 3rd(71) in 1992 and 1st(13) in 1993. Let's see how that breaks down in points according to the standard chart:

    http://www.sportznutz.com/nfl/draft/...alue_chart.htm

800+430+1200+520+530+235+1150=4865 points, which is over 3,000 points more than Atlanta gave up for Julio Jones.
