    As for Gentry, he kept saying over the summer Davis was under utilised - in spite of his gawdy fantasy numbers. Now he has him hunting jump shots like he's nowitzki or porzingis. What a waste. Coach Williams is being made to look v.good through all this

    even if the Lakers keep their pick this year, next year's pick would only be top 3 protected again.

    and even if they were to keep it again next year, then 2018 wouldn't be protected at all. so they're losing a 1st rounder regardless.

    this draft is basically worthless outside of Simmons, so they'd be better off just losing the pick this year and being done with it.
