Alabama will open its 2019 season in a very familiar place: Atlanta.

The Tide will head to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta for the Chick-fil-A Kickoff game on Aug. 31, 2019, where they will face Duke. It will be the sixth time Alabama has opened its season in Atlanta -- the Tide are also scheduled to open 2017 in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff against Florida State.

Since 2008, Alabama is 8-1 in games played in Atlanta -- 4-0 in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff and 4-1 in SEC Championship Games. All of those games have been played at the Georgia Dome.

Alabama will also have a chance to play in the final college football game at the Georgia Dome -- should it make the College Football Playoff and be placed in the semifinal at the Peach Bowl -- and play in the first college football game in new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in that opener against the Seminoles next season.

Duke will be making its first appearance in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the 2019 game, but it has played in a neutral-site game in Atlanta recently, losing the 2013 Peach Bowl 52-48 to Johnny Manziel and Texas A&M.
