Tiger Woods expected to PLAY in the Pga Championship

Should be arriving to Valhalla shortly.

Most did not expect him to play this week after last week's back spasms.

That was a given. I want to see him compete for wins in majors because it makes it much more interesting, but the guy is so full of s hit. Every bad round he has he pulls out with an injury. It's so convenient.

so i was looking at this course and tiger has dominated this course in the past...

but i'm putting some money on bubba watson @ 33/1 and jb holmes @ 100/1.

i really think long drivers have an edge here. who knows rory might win 3 in a row. i just don't like his inflated odds though.

Yup, that and par 4 scoring average. Like those two as well. Like Charles Howell III as a big longshot.

Rory 5-1 ... can't take that on principle. Looked fantastic last weekend, though - if he's special he will prove it this weekend. He's a long, long hitter. Keegan Bradley, too.

I'm not betting this one, wish I could see some Rory/Speith/Kaymer/Scott props.

I see Tiger 37-1. I mean, shit, at that it might be worth a shot.

When was the last time Tiger had odd that like? The 90's?

I'll take the DNF odds! He's a joke right now. Couldn't walk a few days ago and now he's playing... If he plays like crap, which he will, then everyone will say it was the injury. If he plays respectable, they'll say how tough he is and "what a warrior". It's ridiculous - lets focus on the guys who actually have a chance to win the tournament!

You're wrong though. People do care about Tiger. Half the fans still root for him while the other half are rooting for him to fail. It's a pretty fascinating dynamic that has developed over the past 5 years especially when you consider the sport we're taking about.

He is probably the biggest sports star on the planet. No matter what he is overbet. I'd say - he's not worth the shot for that alone.

That said, if you look at Tiger's history of success - it's success built on top of itself. He is like any other golfer in the sense that he can't show up and win a major without being ready to play at his best first. And he is nowhere near that. 2014 has been a particularly bad year for Tiger. Supposedly his back is okay but is walking with a limp - I'll be impressed if he makes the cut.

Tiger looks like sh*t, to the back of the pack after 5 holes. A few more holes like 14 (tee shot deep into the crowd on a par 3) and he won't finish the round.

Hmmmm. Why don't other golfers end up with horribly tweaked backs by their late 30s?

I can name a half dozen without even thinking about it too much; Freddie Couples, Retief Goosen, Seve Ballesteros, Jay Haas, Rocco Mediate, even the Golden Bear had a buncha back issues as he aged. It's much more common than you may think.

Kuchar withdrew w/ a bad back today, he's in his late 30's.

He won tournaments everywhere except the majors where he did not even sniff the hardware. British Open he came closest - a stroke or two from the lead after Saturday, then he was sh*t on Sunday while Phil lit it up.

By Tiger's lofty standards, 2013 was a disappointing mixed bag.
