Horse Racing Show Payout -= $2.10 What % of the pool?

Horse Racing Show Payout -= $2.10 What % of the pool?

I have been noticing when a horse has greater than 40% of the show pool. It's payouts are generally $2.10.

If less then you have a chance for a greater payout.

Does anyone know the exact pool figure?

Don't these payouts seem out of whack for 7% of the pool?

That's a normal payout for a low odds horse such as that. Think of it this way, you earned $.05 for every dollar wagered, guys in the stock market would kill for that.

You gotta remember that 3 horses will get paid for the show price so there is more than just 1 horse involved in the payout pool. If one horse takes say 60% of the show pool and he finishes in the top 3 the show payouts will all generally be low. Look into betting some "bridge jumpers"!!

not true- you would see $2.10 payoffs 80% of the time or more.

take the entire show pool subtract the track takeout then add up the amount wagered on the 3 show finishers and subtract that from what is left take the result and divide it by 3 and that is the amount to be split by all dollars wagered on each horse that showed
    1000 in pool
    1 has 300 to show
    2 has 200 to show
    3 has 100 to show
    takeout 10%
1000- 10%(100) = 900 horse1+2+3 = 600 900-600=300 300/3 =100 per horse horse 1 gets 33cents on the dollar horse 2 gets 50 cents on the dollar horse 3 gets 1 dollar on the dollar {all minus breakage} example horse 1 would pay $2.66 on a $2 show bet but the track would round it down to $2.60
Different tracks and different states have different takeout %'s

generally if the horse is paying 2.80 of less he's 2.10 to show. I font think it's a good bet..you risk too much for little gain. you make 10 cents per 2.00 bet u win 15 times and makes 1.50 n lose 16th time n u r a loser. to win 15 in a row is a awesone but not ez

    I get all that.
My question is what % of the time does the favourite at least show?

On average the favorite will at least show approx 2/3 of the time. More often for favorites in shorter fields and/or with shorter odds and less often for favorites in larger fields and/or with longer odds.

Favorites win about one-third of all races; the percentage generally stays within a margin of 32-35 percent. Favorites finish first or second a little more than half the time (about 52-55 percent) and they finish in the top three about 70 percent of the time.

With all the show betting I do in Vegas I would have thought it was much higher.
    Shocked to hear that.
    Any tips today?
