Colorado had 3 goals on 10 shots, but was leading the Preds so I was quite thankful that one hit afterall. Decent night!

    Record:
    9-2, +8 Units

    February 13:

    • CAR: +125
    • SJS -1.5: +218
    • ANA -1.5: +222

The pick I was cautious about taking this time around was the Anaheim one. This is only the second time I have bet against the Oilers all season. The reason being I have my principles, and betting against the team you love is something you don't do. However, they are not in the playoff picture and a last place finish would be better than a 26th place finish. I did lose on them the other time I bet against them so that is my reason for the caution.
As for the Carolina pick, I think Atlanta is receiving more credit than they have earned and Carolina is not receiving enough. Works for me!
    Good luck this afternoon everyone!

Afternoon JC! Good timing, just finished making my selections. Make some money this past weekend?

    Record: 11-3, +11 Units

    February 14:

    • CGY: +100
    • VAN: -127
    • VAN -1.5: +232

There is a good chance that the two Vancouver lines are going to move in our favour so, for those of you who have the time, maybe wait till game time to lay some money down.
I have been reading about a lot of people going with the Avalanche and I cannot figure out why. DO NOT BET ON A HUNCH. While the Avs are at home, that hardly convinces me that things have changed. If you have put your money on the Avs please lend me some insight. (Always trying to learn) Good luck tonight! Quiet night in the NHL so start your homework for tomorrow...those of you who are bachelors I mean.

took a quick glance at tomorrows odds. so far i like what im seeing, might make a few picks tonight:
    -NAS +100
    -MIN +107
    -PHI/TB -104 (pinny)

in regards to the avalanche. my "prediction" is that they will not win until Feb 22 or 23. they are not a great team for covering the spread as an underdog either so we'll look to play against them on the puckline this weekend

    Hey Locke,

I was down a bit yesterday after the Sharks lost but I laid the wood on Anaheim big-time and made about $110 off that game with the ML and Puckline so it was good. I should have taken the team total over 3 but I thought it'd land right on 3. I generally fade the Oilers every game and double-up if they win, unless they're something stupid like +300 against the Kings or something, then I'll ride with them. I'll take Dallas tomorrow night at a short price too, even though I expect a far better effort from Edmonton than last night.

I agree, I'm not taking the Avalanche. They've not shown me anything that leads me to believe they will end their losing streak tonight. The altitude isn't a big deal as Calgary is also at altitude to a degree. I'm staying away from the game though.

I agree with Vancouver as the road team has won both games this season. I thought the price was quite short but I'll take a shot on the better team. St. Louis used to have their number a few seasons back but they're dreadful, and Luongo has not lost in regulation since December 5th. Maybe I'll take a shot on the Vancouver PL as well. Let's make some cash!

yeah im sitting on the fence with that one at the moment. the oilers seem to have just accepted their fate for this season and it makes watching them SO boring. not one player on their lineup impressed me last night, cept maybe dubnyk. reminds me of fleury before the pens started acquiring some talent up front.
hoping the western canadian teams put up some good numbers tonight!

They usually play Dallas tight but how can anyone go with Edmonton? They're going for another draft pick like last season. Hopefully Khabby starts in net too.

Well, my win streak came to an end last night. However, only lost 1.25 units so nothing to cry over. It was a cocky play taking Vancouver on both the PL and ML. Lesson learned! Back to it today. There is a full slate of games tonight so I've done my homework and have a larger card ready to go.

    Record: 12-5, +10 Units

    February 15:

    • NYI: +116
    • TBL: -104
    • NAS: -103
    • DAL -1.5: +229
    • MIN: -110

Islanders- If you do not like that pick, I recommend taking the over.
Lightning- Although the odds have gone up on Philly, it is sill a "pick em" in my opinion. I went with the Flyers on Feb1st and was pretty disappointed. Although they seem very motivated to send a message about the best team in the East, they have not given me any reason to think they have solved their "Tampa complex". Either way, I love both these teams and look forward to watching this game tonight!
Predators- Two teams that are playing good hockey since the all-star break. Predators are the clear favourites. Sharks are consistently over played on sportsbooks and I think that explains the line. This is the best predators club I have seen in some time and they are coming into this game with a ton of confidence. HERE WE GO MISTER FISHER!
Stars- I do not think the stars will beat up on the Oilers quite as badly as the Ducks did, but I am expecting another unmotivated performance by my team.
Wild- Love this team at the moment. They opened as an underdog yesterday, but when that game came back online were favoured. Wish I could have grabbed that.

Looking forward to watching the Sharks/Preds and Bolts/FLyers games. Cheers!

you know, your guess is as good as mine. i have a feeling that because both of these teams are kind of going through a dry spell that a lot of people were simply not playing on the game. it has dropped substantially on pinny but not a lot of the other books. in calculating my own odds, i had dallas at -127 on the moneyline and i usually give that more significance than the books. khabibulin is in net and lehtonen is the probable starter, the stars would be smart to play him tonight as they could use a streak. let me know if you find any further info

Hey, new to the site and like your picks and way of thinking. I was on Min, NYI and Dallas(though ML) already. You have me convinced on Nashville so will add that. Any thoughts on the Montreal on the Puckline tonight?

welcome dog, i've only been on here a week but have enjoyed the experience so far. dallas on the moneyline is certainly the safe bet, so good choice. i like to test my luck with the puckline on certain matchups, sometimes. last night it was not fruitful, but neither was the moneyline...just living on a prayer!

montreal is one of the hardest teams for me to pick day after day so i generally do not even bother. i attribute that to one of the guys i work with. he lives and breathes "canadiens" and which interferes with my psyche. im not going to lean one way or another but i'll give you a few points to consider:
-buffalo has solid coaching and contributions from several lines
-buffalo is one of the top 10 teams since the all-star break, although the points may not reflect this
-buffalo is playing enroth tonight, i dont know a lot about him. he is no miller but then again miller is not exactly posting a low GAA
-montreal is at home, in one of the best home arenas in the league
-montreal is a defensive team that has some very agile defenseman, capable of shutting down the leagues best forwards on a consistent basis

i think it will come down to montreals ability to score tonight..duh. no, what i mean is if their offence is able to match the intensity of buffalos

Thanks, lots to consider and the Canadians have been hard to predict this year, with this past Saturday night being the exception. They needed that win and I just didn't expect Toronto to be able to take it from them.(following 1 goal loss to Isles and emotional loss/beat-down by the Bruins) There seem to be certain games where motivation plays a key roll and that was one I spotted, if you or anyone else on the sees a motivation factor that should have a strong influence on a game let us know. Another prime example, though going the other way was Colorado yesterday. When I heard that Foresberg was retiring I doubled down on the Flames. Here was a team playing excellent hockey and needing a win to stay in the playoff hunt against a team that has basically just been eliminated from contention.

Ok, done for the day unless something new comes to light. I am with you all the way tonight, excepts substituted the Bruins for Tampa. Again, going with the theory that after two losses(to a Detroit team playing better and more consistently lately) the Bruins are in major need of a win and facing a week team. Don't like the odds (-200) much, but I really like the Bruins chances tonight.

Tough night. Two games going to a shootout and one to overtime makes for some very unpredictable outcomes. Dal/Edm is just starting the third now and I am going to assume that bet has gone to hell as well. However, if Dal is somehow able to score 4 goals in the third and cover then we will come out even on the day. Be interesting to watch.

tough night indeed. somebody knows something that we don't know, they knew EDM was gonna win out right, therefore, the line kept going down on DAL. O well, better luck next time, and onto tomorrow. What do you make of that PIT line, opened at +134 against COL, does that make sense? would love to hear your take on this, Locke.

DISAGREE 110%. if you had been following my picks you would know that. the "best", as you put it, know that you cannot win every single pick, every single day. and if you are saying yesterday had no value then i would say you really do not know what you are talking about.

tambellini gave the oil a pep talk after their no-show on sunday. anyone who was at the Anaheim game could tell ya why, but i overlooked the fact that the oil might actually take it to heart. gutsy effort last night and bulin got his first win in a long time, good for him, and good for those of you who took his losing streak for a good ride!

be back with the card within the hour!

The Flyers and Lightning game was hugely entertaining yesterday. Love games like that. The lineup in the shootout was ridiculous, SO much firepower. I am going to be watching the Devils and Canes tonight. Two desperate teams with some huge skill up front.

Tough night last night, but time to bounce back up for some good plays tonight(only the scrappy Islanders kept me from having to get up off my back.) Like the picks tonight, on them all and also took the Wild at +175, yes, they played last night, but they have been more consistent than Chicago lately.

yeah, the Wild did not show last night...thought they would make a name for themselves with a Canucks team who had just lost but never came through. Coach Q is in hospital so I took that as an "x factor", either the players will play for him...or they'll be less prepared. Not trying to talk you out of your pick (I hate when people do that). That is certainly a great price for the wild though, hope it pays off for you.

i didnt talk to anyone who had a good night last night, only a couple buddies broke even. i still maintain that last nights results are what you expect from NHL teams on an given night; the ability for surprises.
